Drive A: Ford F150, currently sage green, but one of these days piglet pink,
if I can find a shade that doesn't make everyone think "Mary Kay" (dusty
rose, perhaps?)

In 1975, Lincoln painted their Continental Town Coupes a color called
Dusty Rose. I owned one, it did not scream Mary Kay Pink. I imagine
the color chips still exist.

Sorry, a little late with my info for this thread.....we had huge winds here
in Central NY and were without power in our little part of the woods for
most of the day. Here goes: I am Marilyn in Moravia

Name: Marilyn Likness

Home: in the woods just outside Moravia, NY in the heart of the beautiful
Fingerlakes part of Central NY. Born here, left here right after graduation
in 1958, came back here in 1993 with my DH both of us to be semiretired, and
help take care of my Mom and make it possible for her to stay in her own
home, which she did til just 3 years ago. She was 93 when she passed away.

Occupation: Fully Retired and loving it! Also parttime and
"unprofessional" nurse to my husband who developed a very rare autoimmune
disease 2 1/2 years ago. He is doing quite well right now and I have
learned a lot about lots of diseases and can give a really good Procrit
shot!

Age 63

Past Lives: Admin Sec. Bank Teller, Grocery store owner and Chief Meat
Cutter, Greenhouse operation owner and Farmer's Market Seller, State Park
Ofc. Mgr., Bookstore Mgr., Book seller on Internet, Ebay and Amazon when
they both first began, umm, umm, lots of others but only for a year or two.

Family: Married, DH originally from SD. We lived in SD for 5 years in a
town of 200 people in the NE plains east of Aberdeen, SD. 3 kids ;since I
have no grandchildren I tell everyone I have old children, lol.
DS1and wife live in Baltimore, DS 2 lives in Rochester, NY, DD & husband
live in Charlottesville, VA. We all lived in Culpeper Co. VA from 1979 thru
1993. I could move back to that area in a heartbeat! especially
Charlottesville, especially in the winter!

Food: Chocolate, Chocolate and more Chocolate.....I have had to switch to
M&Ms since I began quilting to stay away from the messy stuff. Quit smoking
almost 2 years ago and I now literally smoke M&Ms and Butterscotch
drops...seems I need something in my mouth all the time. Comfort food:
Macaroni and Cheese, Spaghetti with wonderful big really good Italian
meatballs, Popcorn and shrimp.

QIs, None at the moment.

Quilting For: Approx. 5 years. Do every bit of it by hand. I have always
had a prob. with machinery and refuse to get frustrated, soooo I decided if
I did all the piecing and quilting by hand I could crawl up in my big
recliner and quilt away while the quilt kept me warm in the winter. Hey, it
works for me! I have a big floor loom in a room upstairs and for a couple
of years made great rag rugs and sold them at Bazaars, but finally decided
it was taking a toll on my back and I wanted something to do in front of TV
with DH in evenings. Now of course I am addicted to quilting and have
joined 2 Guilds.

Quilting Style: Mostly scrap quilts, but recently did a Venetian Tile Quilt
for DS1 and am working on Stack & Whack lap quilt so I am up for almost
anything.

Color Preferences: For me, mostly autumn colors, but dearly love to work on
really bright children's quilts in the drab winter months. Have done lots
and lots of kids quilts, all given away for charity or to my kids for their
friends kids.

Skill Level: Hmmm, maybe advanced beginner?? I have a lot to learn and do
learn something new at almost every Guild meeting.

Posting/Reading frequency: Seldom post unless something really touches me.
Read/lurk almost every day. Back when I first began quilting I read a lot
for answers to How To questions. This would have been approx 1999, I
remember Sairey and Ragtop both helping me with questions. I learned to
quilt from instructions in the back of a magazine and reading RCTQ!!!!!
Thanks to all who have the answers we all need!

Other Interests: Reading, enjoying a local book club and reading a lot of
the classics currently. Gardening, dearly love that, just now getting
gardens cleaned up for winter. Helping out in church ofc., committees and
Sec. of their Church council. Friday night Auctions in next town, Bargain
hunting. Love my computer both for communication but also for learning
about anything that comes to mind.

TV shows: ER, West Wing, NYPD Blue, Lyons Den and some of the half hour
comedies, and of course HGTV.

Drive a Subaru Forrester...need the 4 wheel drive here in snowy NY. Neither
of us drive much anymore, but do get where we want when we want fairly
easily. We like living in the woods less than a mile to the village, we
have the best of both worlds this way and are only 1 hr. from Syracuse which
is a big enough city to find lots of stuff to do.

Quote: My own: My cup is Always 1/2 Full!

There is more info than you ever really wanted to know I am sure. If anyone
wants to contact me directly, I have never gotten around to entering the
directory but I am a part of the HUG list, and would give permission for my
email to be given.

Thanks
Marilyn in Moravia

Marilyn,
I'm a lurker too. My son lives in Homer and works in East Syracuse. I'm
2 and 1/2 hours north of him.
Good to hear from a local gal,
Susie

That's quite the commute! That would take me 45 minutes each way.

I live 30 minutes south of your son.
