Welcome Judy,

Pleased you came out of lurkdom. Watch out for people offering quality
assurance on your finished quilts...you'll never get them back :-)

I see you are a veggie grower...me too. Do you eat your weeds?

I am a bit late on this, (behind in my reading because of the state
fair.......... only a few more days to go..... yaaaaah............)

Name: Pati Cook

Home: Phoenix, Arizona. Born in Tucson, but also lived in California for a
few years growing up and 2 years in Cottonwood, AZ.

Occupation: Currently working as Superintendent of the Sewing and Crafts
department of the AZ State Fair. Other wise self employed as a
tailor/seamster/ quilting teacher.

Age: 53

Past Lives: Student (didn't quite finish my Master's in Clothing and Textiles,
or Adult Ed. But did get my teaching certification, since lapsed, in Home Ec,
with minors in Math and Science.) Tutor, mostly math at the nearby Community
College. Alterations tailor at several places. Worked a few years at the
dog/horse tracks in Tucson as a money runner/cashier. Tried to teach jr.high
"Life Skills" for a few years, then moved on to work (eventually as Asst. Mgr)
at House of Fabrics/Jo-Ann's. In other words, I have had a lot of
different jobs. G

Family: DH (about 22 years with this one, #2) Mom in Tucson, also sister,
BiL and 2 nephews, plus niece and her son in Tucson. Sister and her family in
Penns. and Brother and his family in Virginia. DH's family is mostly here in
the Phoenix area, except for his sister and her DH who are in Washington
state.

Food: Yes. Like most things, allergic to melons/cucumbers/mangos, coffee, a
few other things that give me problems occasionly.

QI's: We have cats. I am allergic to cats. but they find my hubbie and move
in. (Literally) Currently 2-4 depending on who has decided to live inside.
G Cloud, and Scardy are pretty much inside. Mandarin (big orange ex-tom)
is sometimes in, sometimes out. He comes in the cat door but won't go out
it. Muffy is a new momma who moved her kittens into our house at one point
(she had them in our backyard) but the people across the street have adopted
her, but she keeps coming here........sigh. And Momma Streak drops by
occasionally for food and pets.

Machine(s): Viking 6460, which mostly lives in the car so is handy for classes
and such. Viking #1 which is my "main" machine. Viking Rose which I got as an
embroidery machine. Huskylock serger and a White Speedylock.

Quilting For: Not sure......... took a hand quilting class about 10 years
ago. But I have been sewing forever (since jr high home ec) and some quilting
and piecing sort of moved in at times.

Quilt assembly preference: Whatever works. I do mostly machine, but the Dear
Jane I am doing is mostly by hand. Have never done English pp, and don't plan
to because it just doesn't thrill me that much. Love my rotary cutters and
tools.

Quilt Style Preference: Yes. I like many different styles. So I try many
different styles.

Colour Preference: Greens, blues, browns/golds, in general most anything but
Pink. Dislike pink, but do use it when needed.

Posting/Reading frequency: Try to read daily, but not lately. Post when I
think I have something to add.

Interests other than quilting/fabric fondling/S.E.X.: Reading, cooking, sewing
(clothes and such), designing (clothes and quilts), puzzles, some TV. Talking
with friends. Embroidery.

Pet Peeves: too many to mention At the moment, people who fight change
because "we've always done it that way"

TV Shows: Depend on my mood, but "Angel", Law and Order (especially SVU) and
CSI are favorites.

Drive A: '97 Saturn. DH has a beat up 65/68 VW bug.

Favorite Quote: Not sure........ probably "Just do it." and "It's only
fabric."

It is nice to get to know some of you better.

Pati, in Phx

Food: Ice cream. I miss Ben&Jerry's Coffee Coffee Buzz Buzz.

QI's: Midnight, a black lab puppy

Machine(s): 5-year-old Kenmore, bought when I decided to teach myself to
sew.
It didn't like sewing layers of denim for quilts, so it lives at our
cottage in
Vermont. Its replacement is a Janome 4623. Elna serger

Quilting For: Not quite two years, if you count the denim quilts.

Quilt assembly preference: Machine everything.

which had
gotten to a point where I'd had to give up driving.

Favorite Quote: I can never remember quotes. They provoke my interest
and then
vanish into the mists of my mind.
