Christina,
Would renting the house out be an option? Just make sure the rent is enough to pay the taxes, insurance and water bills. Tenant to pay their own utilities, of course. Just a thought. -- Carey in MA "Christina in Ok" wrote in message ... yes, 54. I know homes are really high anymore, but here most cannot afford it, not even us. we just don't have the job base. "DrQuilter" wrote in message ... Oh man, 54K? If only I could buy a house for less than 100K!. Or even 200K! When I did my taxes the H&R program calculated that I could own a 200K+ house and the mortgage would be the same as my rent! But in Seattle you are looking at at least 250, more like 300 for any kind of house! Some of you guys might remember we thought about buying the house we rent a couple of years ago... but we are still renting it. I hate having that money go down the drain, and there are so many things I would change in this house which would increase it's value. But we decided we'd think about it again when we get the permanent residency and figure out if we are staying her or looking for faculty jobs (which could be anywhere at all). Its a 3 bedroom wooden home, built in the 50s. has a big nice updated kitchen with Ash work. that can fix a kitchen table in. More cab. then anyone can fill... a dining room, Den and living room.. one bath.. cellar for storms and two carports. with two lots.. we are asking 54,000.00 for it and people here balk at the asking price.. and as I told DH It will take up to two years to sell.. But they thought it would only take a few months! I told them but do they ever listen to me? NO in the mean time we have bills that are adding up. his parents furian bill which they are tacking more money on each month.. -- Dr. Quilter http://community.webshots.com/user/mvignali (take the dog out before replying) |
