RCTN Reminder: NY gathering at Stitchery Row Nov. 1
Nov. 1! That's 2 weeks from now! Time sneaks up on you quickly, so don't
forget to include this on your schedule. Bring a project to work on, and we can caht while we work. There will be no organized lunch, but there are a lot of restaurants in easy walking distance (Subway is 2 doors down, for example). We'll have the back room to ourselves, so you can bring your lunch back to the shop, or have it delivered there. If you want to place needlework supplies orders for pick up, go to the website http://www.stitcheryrow.com/ and they'll be happy to reserve things for you. The shop address is also on the website, and I suggest using yahoo or Mapquest to find your best directions. Shop opens at 10 am and closes at 3. The LQS nearest, Sew Much More (http://sewmuchmore.com ), is open 10 am to 5pm, so you can always make a run there before or after you hit the needlework shop. There is another LQS in Vestal, a 20 minute drive, open the same hourse. SMM is a Viking dealer, and Grandmother's Thimble is a Bernina dealer (http://www.grandmothersthimble.net ) Reminder, this is in Endicott, NY, which is near Binghamton. Crossposted to RCTQ for the obvious overlap. -georg |

Linda in Wappingers Falls =) Want directions to Owego, where there's a Pfaff dealer? That's Grandmother's Attic, although I am not familiar with their hours. I was able to notice some lovely flannels before I had to runaway - it's a recently moved into location, and I can't cope with the construction smell. Maybe next year I can shop there. -georg |

Want directions to Owego, where there's a Pfaff dealer? T
What I really want is for someone to help me decide between Pfaff and Bernina - I love my 30 year old Necchi workhorse, and the very portable 32 year old Kenmore someone just gave me, but all the new bells and whistles are fascinating! I don't want one to do buttonholes or embroidery, though - still love to do those things by hand, the way my grandmother taught me - just want to make window treatments and do some free-motion quilting.. Any advice, anyone? Linda in Wappingers Falls |

Any advice, anyone? Linda in Wappingers Falls For me, the choice would come down to a local store that I liked and trusted, and I could take classes with. I would want a machine that can lower the feed dogs for the free-motion quilting (which cannot be done on my Kenmore). It would also be nice to have needle control - needle up/down, and adjust the position. What local for you stores carry these machines? Go test drive them. See what you like best. -georg |
