better yet....FREE new stash!!!
-- Teri http://gallery.ppwp.com/gallery/Tquilts "DDM" wrote in message ... My theory is that if the old stuff has been 'out of sight' long enough to be 'out of mind' for even a little bit then it's just like getting new stuff. Enjoy your 'new' stash, Mary! I'm still coming across stuff that got packed away last year when our duaghter, son-in-law, and their 2 boys lived with us for 3 or 4 mos. while they were between houses and the new construction got slowed down. Several years ago when our divorced son and his boys moved in with us, I put a lot of my things in totes and stacked them in a corner of our bedroom and tossed even more. Now that the family is back to the two of us and my craft room is being set up, I pulled out the totes. Low and behold--clothing patterns I thought were tossed, flannel, cotton, good old poly double knit, a quilt top I embroidered 25 years ago, and who knows what else. I will start sorting another day. -- Mary http://community.webshots.com/user/mardor1948 |

This reminds me of February/March of 2003 when I visited my sister in Juneau, Alaska (well, I was doing research there at the time as well). I had packed up many things in 1997 when I was studying in Juneau, and again in 1998 and although I was sure I had brought all my things back to the UK with me, I still could never find one of my favorite sweaters, and my grey set of longjohns (cotton, so not as scratchy as my red poly/cotton ones). Well, in a box in her cubbyhole in the garage was a box of... you guessed it - sweaters! And my longjohns. Five of my sweaters were there, and it was just like Christmas. I had forgotten about the other 4 - a mouse had made the sleeve of one "home", and I still don't know how to match that yarn and darn it - but it was lovely. The longjohns went to Russia with me, but it wasn't cold enough to wear them when I was there - it was 30C and I did in fact get a suntan in northern Russia - but the sweaters will be coming out soon. It's very windy here just now and the weather is turning chilly. -- Jo in Scotland |
