I have an oddity here in that I have the reply without having the original
message, but ... this kind of shell casting is very common in bronze metal casting and is being used more and more in glass casting because it results in a strong uniform thickness shell (as opposed to the weak plaster that usually varies enormously in thickness because the shape of the container differs from the object) Here is one description http://arts.kypros.com/casting.htm#T...hell%20Process and Googling 'bronze casting zircon' will yield others. http://www.labkorea.com/products/che...dalsilica.html discusses coloidal silica as the slurry -- Mike Firth Hot Glass Bits Furnace Working Website http://users.ticnet.com/mikefirth/hotbit46.htm Latest notes wrote in message oups.com... I'd be very interested in getting more information about your process. Can you post or email some details ... Thanks, Krishnan rskrishnan at gmail dot com |
