What is 'slumping'?
I hear it talked about, but never defined.
I get the gut feeling it's laying a piece of glass over a mould, then heating in a kiln till the glass take the form of the mould. Close? Am I even spelling mould right? :-) -- Bill Browne Excalibur http://excalibur-dbf.com Medical Claims, Taft-Hartley Fund, & Pension Administration Software |

The simple answer is that it is taking glass to the point that it changes
shape but does not change detail of form. [The simpler answer is that you are right.] Fusing is taking bit or shapes of glass and heating them until they more or less melt together. Sagging doesn't go this far. The glass used in sagging may have been fused previously to form a color pattern (like make a checker board) or design (make a picture on a solid background.) It is possible to fuse into a mold, doing both steps at once with less control. (as I do) Sagging may be into a mold, over a form (usually stainless steel) or through rings or holes (drop out). http://users.ticnet.com/mikefirth/what-can.htm -- Mike Firth Hot Glass Bits Furnace Working Website http://users.ticnet.com/mikefirth/NTBowl.htm Once again, Empty Bowls for the North Texas food banks will collect money in February by charging for donated food and bowls at artsy events in Dallas & Fort Worth. Check out your area if not near here, Empty Bowls was originally and still is mostly a pottery project. All it takes is a box stuffed with newspaper and one bowl a week to collect a dozen by then. $23,000 raised last year. "Bill Browne" wrote in message ... I hear it talked about, but never defined.
