Default Big Friday night

I really have an exciting life ... my Friday night outing on the long
weekend was to go with my friend to the Fabricland sale and buy 10 m
of fabric.

Hey, I went to Fabricland Fri afternoon.
I was most disappointed. I haven't been for awhile and it seems they have
way less fabric and way more "home decor" crap. They should have learned
from Fannies that it doesn't work. At this rate Canada will be without a
place to buy fabric at a decent price. Not just quilting fabric but any
type. Sometimes we don't need high quality fabric for a project and many
people can't afford it.

I haven't pieced or quilted anything in months. I was browsing because I
have the urge to work on something but my sewing space needs to be cleaned
up before I can do anything. Anyone else have the problem that your sewing
space gets sacrificed anytime space is needed elsewhere? We have been
renovating (still) and stuff keeps getting piled in my space!
We've also had almost continuous company this summer, so I can't pile the
stuff in the guest room.

Enough rant..... I have a 5 year old and a 7 year old granddaughter here for
a couple of days.
They are in the tub playing right now, but Grama better get ready for
popcorn and a movie before bed.

Hugs, prayers and best wishes to all. Welcome to the newbies. I'm still
reading faithfully, but since I have nothing quilty to report, and have
little time to reply, I'm just kind of keeping to myself.

Problem is that just selling the fabric and notions isn't enough
either. If it was, the company wouldn't be increasing their inventory
load by adding home decor things to sell. Sadly, all the various
craft store chains have been going the same route, and all end up
trying to sell cheap and tacky, made in China, home decor crud before
closing forever. The tacky looking decor things don't sell because
crafters can all make better things for themselves, and the crafters
stop shopping those places because there isn't any selection of craft
supplies once the store is more than half full of the decor items.
Since non-crafters don't shop in these stores, and crafters stop
shopping in them, the company is left with no customers at all.

No, my sewing space tends to invade the rest of the livingroom, or
anywhere else I wish to spread out my things. Even if I don't sew I
pull out the quilt books, patterns, or fabrics for the ideas in my
head.

BTW, nothing wrong with spending a Friday night cloth shopping. A
friend and I recently went on a Friday night because that was when we
could get time away from our hubbies. We had a great time. Just
another form of Girls Night Out.
