Hullo Kellie
I didn't think of this when I read your initial post; but now I remember: the little quilt I made for The Ancient Mariner, had a very complex pieced top (including lots of small triangles), which I completely ignored and quilted a three masted schooner in full sail onto it!!! (It is almost completely invisible by the way!!). So, I would say that a themed quilting pattern would look great. I very often use a quilting pattern which bears little resemblance to the piecing design. .. In article , Kellie J. Berger writes Ah, yes... I know there are NO quilt police.... and i know the design in my mind will look good on the back. And i seem to remember talk of others doing this sort of thing before. AND i have seen it done where the back and front are both pieced, but the piecing was similar. I'm just curious and a bit apprehensive regarding the aesthetics of the 1/4 square triangles with the quilting i have in mind. Hoping someone had tried something like this before and would own up as to whether or not it worked for them! Kellie itchin to get sewing -- Best Regards pat on the hill |

could you put monofilament on the bobbin, so the front of the quilt
would be subtly indented and not so obvious... Kellie J. Berger wrote: Ah, yes... I know there are NO quilt police.... and i know the design in my mind will look good on the back. There are no Quilt Police. There are no hard and fast rules about quilts. I can make anything that appeals to me. If I make it with love, it will be loved too. No one will show up at my door and impound my sewing machine because I made something "against the rules." Do as you will, since that is what appeals to you. Sounds good to me!! -georg -- Dr. Quilter Ambassador of Extraordinary Aliens (take the dog out before replying) |
