Default Back from Nashville

Just back from Nashville on Sunday and I think I've finally recovered. Why
didn't anyone mention I'd be walking a million miles? Finally rented a power
chair on the last day so I could wander among all the quilts. I was really
impressed with the guild entries.. So much variety on one theme. Some were
funny, others very dramatic.

Classes were amazing. Two all day classes and two half day. The Library Quilt
with Debby Kratovil was the most fun. We pieced together some books and added
embellishments. I fused a Laurel Burch cat on one shelf as "art work". It's
pretty cute.

The class with Judith Montano got me back to embroidering and that was a real
challenge. Just recalling all the stitches I used to do was a stretch.

Teachers were so generous with their skills and patience. Even the "Janome
Lady" ,who was there to help with machine problems, got into the act and
suggested alternate stitches on the machine. If I didn't have a brand new
Bernina, I would have snapped up one of those Janones.

The only disappointment was the Alex Anderson lecture. The backdrop curtains
on the stage were black, Alex wore a black dress and then turned out the lights
for her slide show. It might have been ok had the class been kept in the
originally scheduled room but it was moved into a huge ballroom to accomodate
all who wanted to attend. It was impossible to see Alex or the quilting on her
work and THEN the old lady next to me fell asleep and SNORED. I had to leave
before I laughed out loud.

I'd do it again but I think I need to find a guild and attend some regional
shows.
