Pasco County Florida Shop Hop report
DH was my chauffeur yesterday. We left home at 8:30 am and arrived back at
3pm. We drove 115 miles, visited 7 quilt shops, brought home 7 block kits, 5 fat quarters, 1 pattern, and 8 1/4 yard of fabric. (I would have picked up more, but we are heading back home soon, and the car is already overloaded!) 1. A&A White's Sew & Vac in Holiday -they had a good selection of fabric, and offered a variety of classes -lovely selection of pre-quilted fabrics for their tote bag classes -sewing machines and embroidery cards galore! 2. Wright Fabric Shop in New Port Richey -friendly staff, with lots of patterns and classes offered -small selection of fabric -great place for a machine embroiderer - lots of software 3. A&A White's Sew & Vac in Port Richey -smaller shop than the first one, but still a nice selection of fabric 4. Quilt Til You Wilt -shop is in a building behind their home -lighting was poor in fabric area -good selection of flannels, as well as cottons -Gammil long-arm on the premises -nice half price rack of fabric -worth the trip 5. Pins & Needles in Hudson -good variety of fabric -bright shop with super friendly staff -large shelf of fabrics marked down to $3.99/yard -good selection of striped designed fabric (I like to use these in borders) 6. Quilts on Plum Lane in Dade City -great selection of fabric and books -wonderful helpful staff -lots of classes -sale rack, end of the bolt rack, un-advertised sales 7. Quilters Quarters in Zephyrhills -good book selection -great selection of oriental prints -nice all-around shop -lots of bright, kid friendly fabrics -classes offered Now I just have to wait to see if I won the grand prize of 70 fat quarter, one of the 14 $25.00 gift certificates, or if I was correct in guessing the number of M&M's in the jar! Susan, from Kingston ON quilting in Florida (what else?) |

Thanks for the listing! I live in Pinellas County, just south of
Pasco. Looks like I need to drive north some day. I'm so used to going to Ellenton! Deena "SusanTorrens" wrote in message ... DH was my chauffeur yesterday. Could any of you compare these shops to Queen Anne's Lace in Kissimee?
By range of fabric on sale and by price of fabric too. What does an typical LQS charge per yard of fabric? Thanks Karen "Piper" wrote in message ... Thanks for the listing! I've only been to QAL once. They had a great selection, compared
to the quilt shop in Ellenton. Sale fabrics were good priced, I remember. My MIL did most of the buying over there. I tend to shop at Country Quilts and Bears on Drew in Clearwater, and Rainbow's End in Dunedin for most of my fabric. Deena "Ian" wrote in message ... Thanks for that. I'll be on holiday with my family in Orlando for easter
doing the usual touristy things (visiting Mr M Mouse etc etc). On my "Mum gets to choose day" I was wondering if it was worth dragging DH + daughters 7 & 10 to the other shops...possibly not Thanks Karen PS. Where do the non-tourists live in the Orlando area? Queen Ann's Lace is a much larger shop than any of the ones I visited. Regular price of fabric is about the same, (in the $8-$9 range). Sale prices varied - some at 30% off, some at 50% off, and some at $3.99. I've only been to Queen Ann's Lace once this winter, with Estelle who was visiting from England. I brought my own fabric "quilt kits" from home this winter, and have just been picking up some odd fabrics for future projects, as well as a bit of stash replenishment.
