Don't get your knickers in a twist, love!!! They are so ignorant they
wouldn't know a good faggott if it bit them.

As my brother said on the QE in Southampton..."my sister is going over
to educate the colonials." True, in Hematolgy (haematolgy spelled
correctly), but damned if I can refine their gross tastes!

Gillian

Can you acquire it in Florida ? Should I send a Care Package ?

I respectfully request that you send the care package to Gill and not to me.
I once tasted Marmite back in New York and thought it was dreadful stuff.
As with most ethnic foods I guess it's an acquired taste.

Make it an ice cream soda and you're on.

I'd prefer a frappe!

Well, Elizabeth was offered a shake, but prefers an ice cream soda. I'd much
rather have a frappe over both drink choices.

Unless I can have a Ben and Jerry's Deep Dark Chocolate in a nice mug of
Stewarts Root Beer.

This is funny .... when I said "shake?" to Elizabeth - *I meant
handshake (meaning more less that we understood each other and shook
hands and got over whatever was bugging us), but a milkshake -
chocolate, vanilla, strawberry ... I'd offer that too cuz I love
them. *:-))

Sharon (N.B.)

I knew what you meant when you said it, but I thought I'd play a bit
since I have such an awful character. **grin*

I thought so but where it went on and on, I was beginning to
wonder ... you think you have an awful character!! Could I tell you
stories!! :-)) And you shut up Sheena!

Sharon....shame on you! A first cousin to the English so to speak. I bet
if you fight your way trough the snow and ice to Halifax, Sheena will
give you a taste. It certainly isn't for everyone, it is an acquired
taste, and opnly the connoisseurs can value it.

It is spread ( very thinly spread) derived from yeast products, a
savory and nips your tongue and senses.

Sadly some south of the border don't have the necessary senses to
appreciate it.

I won't tell you Jim's description of it, but I am sure TMs cat produce
plenty!

Oh look Sheena---apparently Victoria is coming to hell with us!! Sheena
and
I long decided that we are going in the same handbasket.

Dawne

Dang, now I want to go to hell too! Can I please join you?

C

So we're off, on a trip to Norway ? Or is Hell in Denmark, I forget
which just now.

There's a Hel in Poland.

Well, there we have it then---The Hell Bound Tour, including Michigan,
Norway and Poland at the very least, made up of handbaskets and a stalwart
handcart.

How dare they - Marmite spread on hot, buttered crumpets (toasted over

Marmite is Vegemite with ATTITUDE!

I agree about vegemite. BUT...after a dip in the local swimming pool,
hot Bovril is the only answer!

Maybe Oxo is a northern substitute??? RD&H

I vaguely recollect having "beef tea" when I had childhood illnesses
(measles etc) but whether that was Bovril or not I don't know. Perhaps I
should buy some Bovril and compare it with beef-flavour Oxo (blind tasting?)

Bovril gives an interesting taste when added to hot milk.
Many years ago my nieghbour was in hospital with some kind of chest
problem. They used to give them Bovril in milk for elevenses.
Of course we had to try it when he got home.
My family quite enjoyed it.
