Default OT Price gouging!!!

I'm angry! It's terribly heartbreaking what the folks in the southern
states of the USA are suffering right now. I feel so badly for them
and their losses of lives and property- I can't begin to imagine the
horror and terror they must be experiencing right now. BUT.... up here
in Missouri it hasn't rained one drop and there's just a mild breeze.
Even so, the gasoline prices jumped fifteen cents a gallon this
morning! I called our propane gas dealer to have our tank filled for
the winter and they wouldn't quote a price nor a delivery date....
they're waiting to see how high the price will go first before they
commit!

Talk about taking advantage of a tragedy... the dirty rats!

Our gas went up 7 cents a gallon last week and news reports say another 25
cents this week. That will take us to about $2.80/gallon.

Ours went up 6 cents overnight! One station is still at $2.49 but others
are up to $2.64.

Ours is currently at $2.39.

We have a station right down the street from us that we have been watching
for 6-8 months now and they always raise their prices on Tuesday mornings.
So as we are out and about, we check all the other stations and find that no
one else changes their prices till late Tuesday night, early Wednesday
morning.

So I've the one who has been elected in my family to go out and look at the
gas prices (I normally have someone to go anyway), and then report back to
everyone.

We caught them 1 time, changing the price to something horrendous but
everyone else stayed the same and by that next evening they were in line
with everyone else.

I saw on the news there are some phone numbers to report gouging. I think
the state of Illinois was also ready to prosecute anyone raising prices just
on the disaster heels.
My brother works for an oil company and told me,
If you think gasoline is high now........just wait until the impact of some
additional regulations for cleaner diesel fuel kicks in next year. May want
to swap your mini van for a mini Cooper.

Doesn't that just warm your heart?

Seems like the propane dealer is acting a little shady!!!

A week ago I paid $2.53. A station north of us is charging $2.73 tonight.
If bike lanes were available in this area, I would be buying a bike and rain
gear for this winter.

i just checked and we're now paying $1.49 a "litre" for petrol.
this keeps going up as long as the cost to the usa for oil goes up.
the rest of the world pays what the usa pays and more due to our exchange
rates.
when the usa 'needs less and pays less' a barrel, the cost to the rest of us
will also go down, tho probably not at the pumps. they rarely if ever lower
our pump price. the govt is too dependent on the excess tax on tax on tax,
they get from it.
all this with a rather large surplus in the govt coffers at last news
reports.
so i 'rarely' leave the house for anything.
letting dh buy what we need on the way home from work.

When I went to the gas station tonight I saw that the gas had jumped
almost 30 cents per gallon overnight, and when I went inside to pay (I
need the gas now), I asked to speak to the manager. I told him that I
thought that it is immoral to raise prices on gas already in the
underground tanks based upon future wholesale prices expected. He
agreed, but said "the company" made those decisions. Personally, I
would like to see the gas stations take the windfall profits based on
the hurricane and get those profits to the people suffering damages by
the hurricane. Or, give free gas to people driving back home when they
are able to return home -- those driving south following the evacuation
whose drivers licenses and owners ID cards for the cars show an address
in the evacuation areas. Sheesh! And they say doctors and lawyers are
greedy! They're pikers compared to the oil companies!

So glad DH already rides his bike to work most days. Our gas is
averaging $2.73 ($2.59 on base), and expected to go up.
