What heartwarming TV coverage from Chile. Watching the miners being
winched out of that mine is bringing tears to my eyes. It must be so
hard for the last guy waiting for his turn. In this day and age of
instant everything (except quilts of course) it seems strange to think
that the rescue won't be over until sometime tomorrow.

I don't often follow news stories, but this is one that has been in my
thoughts every day. I have had fingers crossed for those men every day...

The Chilean authorities deserve a prize for the effort put into this
mission, and their management of the whole thing right from the start.
THIS is the way to deal with an emergency! OK, compared to the tsunami
and the Pakistan floods, this is small beer, but a beautiful example of
how to get it right!

It was so overwhelming, I cried - what a reunion for the men and their
families.

What clever inventors to create the capsule.

This is the most wonderful, incredible, inspiring story of this year
or any in my memory. It takes me back to the little girl who fell into
the hole in Midland, Texas -- 'Baby Jessica' -- back in 1987. The
nation prayed for that little girl. I think the entire world has been
praying for these men. A miracle of faith, science and human
determination and will to live.

That was wonderful news to wake up to this morning. I didn't have the
stamina to stay up till the end so I have nothing but admiration for the
rescuers who must have been so tired as they came to the last men on the
list.
