Dee in Oz .....off to have a glass of champers and strawberries Not only did it hail and rain in Melbourne on Christmas Day -- it snowed in the highlands and to quite low levels surrounding Melbourne! This has occurred only several times a century. The weather went from the highest recorded nighttime temperature of 27dC to snow in the space of a week. A week ago the state was blistering under intense heat with bushfires destroying around 30 homes in both Victoria and Tasmania. The news headline today said: Amid the embers, no one dreamed of a White Christmas. That says it all. Meanwhile, here in Queensland (some 2000 km to the north) we have had a cooler than average Christmas week with little humidity. It was a lovely sunny day with many families picnicing by the sea. Today, Boxing Day, we have woken to steady light rain - again sorely needed across the state. I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday time with your loved ones. May all good quilty experiences come your way in 2007 - plus the usual chocolate, vacations, good health, love and blessings for what we have. Hugs, Bronnie Qld Oz |
