Duplo yay! My car seat covers went back today (sigh). Seems that 99.99% of
bucket seats have the gap between the back and bottom where you can stick
your hand through? Mine doesn't. Has it all neatly covered in therefore we
can't put the "tie up" bits through therefore the covers won't stay sitting
"right". Does that make sense? Now DH has to think up something else.
I've made it easy and said it can go towards a new winter coat for all those
cold mornings out on the go-kart track.

Yep, car seat covers can be a real pain at times. We put a cover on
the drivers seat of the volvo but it didn't quite fit properly and
it got torn. A new coat for cold winter mornings sounds like a good
idea!

Default Santa brought uglies

Hummmmmmmm, would there be butterflies on that fabric? No, come to think of
it, I don't think there was 7 yards on that hunk I sent you quite some time
ago. Almost, but not quite!

The week before Christmas, we traded in my 2 wheel drive pick-up truck
and treated ourselves to The Beast- a big Dodge 4 door 4 wheel drive
pick-up truck. It's burgundy and has a HUGE hemi-magnum engine...
horrible gas mileage, but man does it growl nicely and it rides like a
dream! (My poor arthritic joints really appreciate that!) And I was
so touched... at 55 y.o. and a couple of marriages behind me My Hunky
Mr. Collins gave me a birthstone (dark blue sapphire) ring and necklace
with (petite) diamonds and matching birthstone post earrings- the FIRST
jewelry I have ever received from a man other than a wedding ring! He
also gave me a box of chocolates, a burgundy colored compact umbrella
to keep in The Beast, a lighted fishing bobber (for night fishing- I
usually have to shine a flashlight out on the lake to see if I'm
getting a nibble!) and a snazzy bookmarker- I tend to use rubber bands
or pieces of paper. vbg DDS#1 gave me a book- Quilter's Computer
Companion. Now I can try to learn to design with my computer rather
than graph paper and colored pencils. DDS#2 and DDIL bought us a laser
level. I see several of us received them- how do they apply to
quilting??? His DD#1 and DSIL gave me a pretty basket filled with
goodies- shower gel, small quilting supplies, some lovely candies and 4
FQs. My parents gave us a set of sheets- yummy 550 thread count, but
they are the size for the guest room bed... I didn't say anything as it
would have upset mom that she bought queen instead of king. Oh well...
the guest room needs sheets, too. ;-) And my dearest Big Sis (you
know her as Pat on her hill) sent us a marvelous "document" with the
Collins coat-of-arms and family history. What an amazing, fascinating
gift!

We had all our children and spouses and the granddarlings that live
around here for dinner yesterday and had a wonderful time. I think
this was my best Christmas ever- and that's not even including the
gifts and truck!

I'm patiently waiting reports on what goodies Santa brought you all.

I got a new sewing machine 3 weeks ago and I knew that was my Christmas
present. I was totally surprised last evening to receive a new digital
camera! It's teeny tiny and I love it!

DD gave me a new MP3 player. She gave me her old one when she got her
beloved IPOD last year. The new one hold lots more songs than the old one.

We had a wonderful Christmas. DD was here and we invited a couple to dinner
last night. We had smoked salmon, crackers, homemade antipasto and cheese
for appetizers. Homemade cappeletti's to start off the meal, then pork
roast mashed potatoes, green beans, 5 cup salad, devilled eggs and corn for
dinner. All of this with a couple of bottle of 14 year old wine that we've
been hoarding.
Nobody wanted any dessert. Imagine that. Nor champagne.

The friends are coming back tomorrow night to finish off the cappelletis and
then the cheesecake and champagne.

Today, DH went duck hunting and DD came over and we played video games. I
love Nintendogs. And Resident Evil. We have an "English Tea" as kind of a
tradition on Christmas afternoon. Vanilla scones, clotted cream and
raspberries and strawberry jam. With tea of course.

I'm stuffed, but I think I hear a devilled egg calling my name.

Santa was not supposed to get me anything this year. Discussed, more than
once! The other evening, I stopped by to see 'Santa' at work. (His day job
is managing an auto repair shop). He took me back far into the shop....."Do
you smell anything burning back here?" Burning?? I went back, further and
further, looking all around, and stopped. There in front of me was a
Damascus Treadle machine! It needs work, but will be a fun project for us
all to work on. That tricky old Santa!

They don't normally, Butterfly, but since Christmas was on a Sunday, they
give Monday as a holiday. At least that's what my mail carrier said on
Saturday.

I am so happy for you Leslie. Tell Mr. collins great job and we
are looking forward to what Valentine day brings!
You better try out those sheets even on the guest bed so you can
let your mama know you appreciate the gift ; )

Default What did Santa bring?

Santa didn't bring me anything this year, since DH's pay got messed up for
the last two months. He gave me a rain check instead...LOL. It was a nice
day, though. We feasted on fruit stuffed golden trout, brown rice and
seasoned broccoli. DD got most of the gifts. DH and I got a DVD (some
movie that we probably will be exchanging) and a couple of CDs from my
nieces of them performing various instrumental pieces. Mom and dad sent us
an updated photo of the two of them, and mom sent me a pair of much needed
slippers and a pack of patriotic fat quarters. Gramma sent $ which we are
using to purchase our holiday party foods. Once the pay thing gets
straightened out, my gift will be a HEPA air filter and some bicycling
workout clothing. All in all, it was a peaceful day with my little family,
and I got to chat with some friends, which is all I really wanted in the
first place.

Santa came early this year and took me to Scotland with all the shopping
exeditions included. Oh, I guess I did get a new set of tires on my van
the other day. Merry Christmas to me! Almost as expensive as my plane
ticket!
Hope you all had a great day. Time to slice the roast and set the table.

Default What did Santa bring?

Quilty-wise, I got a walking foot for my machine (figures....AFTER I
complete the Tulip Quilt from Hell...) and a large gift certificate to
Joann's.

Non quilty-wise, I got an mp3 player, chocolate GALORE including Godiva
liqueur, gift cards to other various places, a sixer of Guinness, three
beautiful silver necklaces, a case for my CDs, a case for my knitting
needles, and far too much in cash gifts.

I must have been a very good girl this year...

As for the Tulip Quilt from Hell........Mom loved it. Made her cry, which
in turn started me crying, so it was an emotional day. Seeing her happy
made all that turmoil worth it.

Anastasia

--who still swears she'll never do another king-size. DH thinks he'll have
to put me away in a loony bin if anyone asks for one.
