colored acrylic glue
Way back in the 60's I can remember making a ring out of layered clear
acrylic plastic and colored glue. The glue was slow enough setting to allow proper lamination, and you could still see through it (translucent, not opaque). Much more recently (this year) I have seen plastic sculpture made the same way. After many hours' search here, elsewhere on the web including many chem and plastic manufacturers, and on the phone with local craft and plastic companies, no luck finding this glue. Attempts to color clear glue with alcohol based dye or pigment powders have been unsuccessful (uneven color). I would like to find a source for a few ounces each of blue, red, yellow, black and possibly white. Is this stuff still made somewhere? Can anyone please help??? |

Have you tried epoxy resin based adhesives. Although most dry within seconds there are some that require hours to set. Do a search on the web, there are many suppliers for many applications. |

There's a really good site for acrylic sheet/rod/etc which also includes polyester casting resin: http://www.delviesplastics.com/casting_resin.htm This site mentions "school prices" a lot, but I called them and they said they'll happily sell to anyone. They also have dyes and other helpful things for use with casting resin. My impression is that the glue they sell for use with their acrylic sheet can also have dye mixed into it, but I'm not sure. Hope this helps. |
