Default New finished piece & a couple of stringing questions

I will scan my latest piece tomorrow so you can see it. It's pretty big.
While I was in the throes of designing this one, I had an idea to use a
technique I saw on the cover of Beadwork July/August 2000, called Blocks
and Bars. When you see the amulet bag, you won't recognize the stitch. I
messed around with it. The neckcord is based on this technique. I saw a
complaint about something on the cover of a mag one other time that had
thread showing along the edge of the piece. It was unavoidable, in the
technique that was used on that piece, as it would be on this. My piece
has thread that more closely matches the beads and because it is square
stitch in part, seeing the thread really becomes a part of it.
Personally, I don;t care if it shows. It is a necessary part of the
work. I consider this, all of the beading I do to be weaving, anyway. I
don;t just consider it the glue that holds the beads together, so to
speak. I think it is an integral part of it. I have experimented with
a numer of thread related things, including using colored thread inside
of transparent beads for added color or stitching back thru beads with
metallic threads, That is awesome ! Purposefully using BLACK thread to
do RAW with white beads. I look at what I do as a no holds
barred creativity fest, where "rules" don't apply. The piece I finished
tonight is one example .... It just ain't usual. I made a test piece of
the Blocks and Bars, too, that I might scan to show ... I stitched
strands of them together with RAW. I was thinking if i stitched the
strips together with RAW it would look similar to filet crochet. The
thread would be VERY apparent. My personal taste is to use something
other than the cover article, not the white thread that was chosen. Very
interesting, also. I got curious about how people feel about the thread
issue. Some of the crazy things I do, would never be achieved without it
showing in part. I have also found thread on gigantic spools for
commercial purposes that is beyond interesting. I am using it alot. I
don;t think the public cares. They don;t know the finer technical points
of beading and as long as it is pretty and well made, that's as far as
they ever look. I have heard that for competitions that this is an
issue. If that is true, most of my articles would get passed over if
they were not explained or uderstood. Also, what is
this Fireline. I looked at it at Wal-Mart, and found it pricey, but i am
interested in it's stiffness for certain things. How are you all
finishing the ends ? Crimps, .... what ? Like all stringing materials
that dont break, i have this all consuming fear of someone being in a
car accident and being decapitated by the necklace I sold them, because
it wouldn't break and their famiy sues me ? I know that's far fetched
... but it could happen ....
