Default Help Hearing

Please excuse this post if it is out-of-place. Feedback regarding a
more proper venue for this request would be appreciated.

I have a new website that uses Yackpack audio to record live piano.
Please see:

http://PianoMoods.org

Someone recently described the sound quality of the recordings this
way: "It sounds like the tape deck my dad used in the 70's."

Would anyone be interested in helping me judge the sound quality of the
recording process after I make a change from microphone to a direct
connection? A varied group of listeners would be most helpful.

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

There's a number of extremely "tuned in" musicians that hang out there
who are extremely fussy about sound quality.

From what I can tell, there was not enough nuance. That can be a real
problem when recording . . . the level stays somewhere in the center.
Those that I listened to had a MIDI piano feel. But if you were
recording from a real piano, then that's not a bad job at all. Usually,
pianos record in a quite wooden tone without the right equipment and
sound stage.

Thank you for taking the time Dianne. I recorded "For Dianne" using a
direct connection to my digital piano. Let me know if it sounds any
better.

So as not to disturb the group, let's take this to email. There still
is a lack of nuance, and it still sounds like a digital piano - a little
less so, however. grin You may want to purchase a sound module that
will give you more tone.

I'd send you one of my own ogg files, but they're on my hubby's computer
and he's at work.

Please don't hesitate to email me. And *do* visit
http://www.queststudios.com/forum I'll mention to Tom to be on the
lookout for your registration.

We write for computer games, so I understand your problems.

You write your site in Flash? I'm just learning!
