Make your template from paper, but lay your floor on cardstock to make it
easier to move for "troubleshooting", if necessary. You can also paint your card a dark color before laying the floor. |

I had thought that I'd make a room "plan" on paper, and do the flooring on the paper first, then just fix lay that in the house and fix it into place. Do you have a feel for if that's a good or bad idea? I had thought that was good so if I had to get to the wiring, it would be more accessible. Cathy Weeks I think it's a good idea. I used Houseworks flooring in a lot of my rooms which is made up of wood strips on kraft paper. I attached it to the floor with double sided tape on the ends and one in the center. That way if there was a problem I could remove the floor. I also like to do things so they can be easily changed. Carol S P Miniatures http://www.spminiatures.com |

I would use something like cardstock though, a little firmer than paper but not too thick. Dawn |

I used very thin acrylic as a base for a tile floor. Did the floor and slipped the acrylic into the room. A railroad hobby shop had the acrylic but the big craft stores might also have it. I bought a box of a thousand wood stirrers at Starbucks located inside the Albertson's grocery store. I believe I paid around $9.00 Try a Starbucks or a Coffee place. Hmmmm...I'll take a look. That would be great in a pinch. I found them online though, for MUCH cheaper. The drawback is that I had to buy a case of them. If I can't unload them, then my kids might have quite a bonus in our arts and crafts box!!! Cathy Weeks |
