Default OT Survey- sharing a computer?

Just curious.... I'd like to ask the adults with partners (married or
whatever) whether they share a computer or find each having their own works
better for them. We have 2 puters and a laptop but always seem to share my
basic/cheap little set-up. The "big fancy" computer with all the bells and
whistles isn't even online yet.

And, no, around here it doesn't always work out smoothly with this sharing
stuff..... ;-)

We used to share, until we got EverQuest. Then we'd time each other. And
argue over who had more time online than the other one. We ended up
getting separate computers. Even now that I've finally managed to get
off the EverCrack, we still really need our own computers.

Worse, I have two. One for work, one for fun.

Two computers are always cheaper than a divorce., including upgrades.

In our house we each have our own computers, but Mike uses mine for an
occasional email. When Jim was still living at home we shared one and he was
quite gracious about the amount of time I used. He made me one as soon as it
was possible too, tho. I shared mine with a roommate for a while. She wasnt
really responsible about where she put my email addy so she was banned from
it. (I dont share well and run with scissors occasionally too)
I think under most circumstances not to share if it is at all possible. I
like to keep my windows smaller so I can see a bunch at once, Mike and Jim
perfer theirs maximized. Imagine all the things I have to change over when
they are done using my system! ;-)
Now, why isnt the bells and whistles one hooked to the net yet?

Our house needs a room like NASA has for all the computers! We have one (the
oldest) strictly designated the Kid Computer, right next to it sits the Main
Computer. I have a laptop, and DH has a work laptop. If he's doing work,
it's likely all 4 computers are in use, with timers set for the kids to
rotate turns. Two computers, 5 kids, you do the math!

Anyway, DH occasionally uses mine, to pay bills or play games, but I can ask
him to give it back. Either of us can kick kids off the main computer. If
I'm on the main computer, and he needs it, I let him. All computers are
networked together and to the printer. It helps having a live-in IT guy.

I must say that I've had my own computer for 15 years or so.
Not only that, but I've had my own computer room. DH has
his on a different floor than mine and yes, at times I do
send him email messages if I know he's online.

I have to smile....Mike and I have our computers where we can see one
another, he is just down the hall from me. There have been times we have
used yahoo to message one another. Its fun. Oh, then there was the day I
used the text message option to find out if he would be home soon, he said
yes, and then walked in the door a few seconds later. He has a piquant sense
of humor.

Howdy!
Same here; "ours" is mine (I share, but not often);
he has a laptop which I use only when on-the-road.
We each have our own passwords for separate e-mail.
Son-in-house has his own laptop.
No one gets to delete any of my Favorites list or make fun
of all the quilting links.
When I'm here alone, everything in mine. ;-P

I paid for this puter originally, so it's always referred to as
Kate's/Mummy's computer... It started as the family computer, but then
DH got the laptop from work...

I mostly share it with James, but DH gets a loan of it occasionally...

Well... In my past life with hubby #2 we had 4 computers in the house all
networked and connected to the net. After hubby #2 passed away I never
bothered disconnecting his computer as it was handy when kids came to
stay... they could just use his instead of somebody having to share. Then I
met hubby #3.....
He thought my house was heaven... high speed internet on all computers...
and not having to share. His house had 1 computer on dial up.
Well, I moved to his house 2 years ago with 2 of my computers (kids took the
others) but still only 1 internet dial-up connection. I wanted a second
phone line to hook my computer to but... we keep getting promised by the
locals here that high speed will be here in xx months....That would be a way
cheaper method than having a new phone line added... (we live an hour drive
out in the boonies)
In the past 2 years hubby #3's computer died so he has my spare, now my
motherboard has died so we are sharing this computer and have bought a
laptop for when we are on the road.

With only 1 internet connection it isn't necessary to have 2 computers but I
sure miss having my own... I like to set mine up totally different from his.
Once we get high speed connections again I will definitely have my own
again... Sharing sucks

Glad to see that I am not the only one here that has had an MMORPG problem
lol - The hubby and I just quit Star Wars Galaxies cold turkey after playing
since the game came out! I fault it for my serious lack of quilting - and
that is one of the reasons I quit
