if I remember right - in 4-H - our first project was an apron. But they
don't use aprons today. A potholder would be fabulous.

Hello,
Several children in my group have watched me making patchwork
things, and are quite keen to try it! I want to give them some
projects that will not be frustrating, and will be quite easy to
complete. Any ideas? I gave them some scraps to use as bookmarks...
but I'm after some patterns that only require sewing a few seams.

Strip pillow. Three or more long strips sewn long sides together,
backed with a solid piece of fabric, then stuffed.

If they are so inclined, what about sewing little things for babies or other
children for charity? There are slippers, scarves and hats from fleece that
are quick, easy and they might enjoy knowing they are making something the
keep a child warm that otherwise might not be. And they could easily make
some for themselves as well.

for cute hats.

scarf

And I have hordes of patterns saved and converted to .pdf files for things
like this, so if you are interested in more stuff, ask me and I probably
have it saved on my computer!
