OT - Dilemma
Ok when the good news comes in it flows! I now have a chance at a second
job. A database adminstrator for a small church. Mainly doing data entry work with some extracting and manipulation of data. I LOVE DATA! Also working for a church so no typical coporate politics. It does pay more than the other job offer I have. Now the Dilemma! 1. Database job will be something I love to do, but no possibilities for advancement. Especially within the organization. I will have to move on. Small cost of living increases. Salary no overtime. Half day Fridays and discounted excellent childcare. 2. Mortage / Title company less money, but far more room for advancement. Leading to larger paycheck in the future. Not 100% it is something I would want to do. Hourly possible overtime. 40 hours. I really can't decide. I have been talking with people and I am still torn. Any suggestions, thoughts, input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Amy http://www.empressbeads.com |

I always vote for being happy in your work since it comprises so much
of your life. If you don't like working at the church, they probably will be more understanding of your leaving than the title company, imo. Patti who loves her job (finally) and her business. |

Amy,
I forgot to say that sometimes when I have trouble making a decision, I write up two lists - one advantages and one disadvantages for each option. Sometimes just seeing it in print makes it easier to decide. As much as it may make sense to follow your head, I've always found that following your heart is the best option. Safe, discounted childcare is a big plus, also. Good luck with your decision and let us know what you decide and if you are happy in whichever job you take. Patti |

Jim said"

And as much as we all need some money to get by, for your health (mental, physical, and emotional and spiritual) its not a good longterm idea to go for something if money is the ONLY good thing about it.... -- Sarajane's Polyclay Gallery Beads-Dolls-Wearable Art www.polyclay.com see the current auctions at: http://snipurl.com/aiid |

I don't belong to the church at all. Does that make a difference?

One word of caution: church politics can be every bit as bad as corporate ones, with the added nastiness that it often gets PERSONAL. A church is like a small town in many ways, both good and bad.
