OT Name the puppy!

I decided to use my spare time volunteering at the local animal
shelter- y'all know I'm absolutely goofy about dogs. Of course (and
you *knew* this was coming! LOL) I came home with a new dog on the
very first day of working there.

He's absolutely gorgeous! A 7 month old Golden Retriever/Collie
cross with a luscious, soft, deep, deep chocolate brown coat with
pumpkin colored highlights. His head, muzzle and lower legs are a
brindle pattern of the chocolate and pumpkin and his undercoat and the
backs of his rear legs are a soft silvery beige.

This sweet-natured, cuddly, eager to please and very bright pup came
with the name "Spud" which does not suit his elegent looks nor his
precious personality and it just will not do. I've come up with Reese
(after Reese's peanut butter cups); Baxter (just cuz I like it), Mocha
or Bear (he rather looks like a little brown bear). But I'm not
really happy with those choices.

Please help me find the perfect name for my puppy- nothing too strange
or exotic or silly, please. Just a nice descriptive and pronouncable
name to suit my newest lovebug.

I grew up with a lovely German Shepherd named Cinderella! My father
learned a lesson about letting the children name the new puppy just
after seeing a Disney movie . . .

Seriously, about your wonderful new pup: How about Walnut for his
coloring? Or Baxter, or Webster, which are rather dignified names
that will suit him as an adult? Or even Walter or Clarence for a
whimsical old-fashioned name? Since his heritage and paternity are
probably unknown and surely not the usual "approved", how about a name
beginning with "Fitz" -- Fitzwalter, Fitzwebster, etc. (Having
"Fitz" to begin a name used to denote a royal *******.)

We had a dickens of a time coming up with a name for our latest male
chocolate lab. Since we'd already had a Mr. Hirsh E Barr and a
(Hershey's) Nugget it was a challenge. Finally settled on Mr.
Toblerone (for the candy bar) and call him Toby.

Don't know if this falls into the silly range, how about "Gotcha"
You gotcha a rescue, he got a family, and it sounds like he's got a
lot of colors.

Or Monet after the painter, his mix of colors sounds like a painter's
palette.

My son had a delicate battle with his 3 yr. old (at the time) daughter
when she wanted to name their new dog "Nut Case"!

Our boy's name is Duncan - it fits - he's part shepherd, the other
part we have no idea, but it involves little floppy ears - he's a
darling. How about: Scout, Prince, Tucker, Sailor, Finn, Ginnis?
You'll know when it fits. Another lucky puppy being adopted - that's
where ours came from too - you can get the nicest dogs at the shelter.

I've always wanted a pup named Joey.

Congrats to you all Leslie DD wanted to call one of my pooches
Indifatiguible (sp) and use Indy as
a nickname. She was into the Horatio Hornblower movies. Indy isn't so bad
but Horatio sounds kind of nice.
How about simply 'Gent'? What ever you call him he is lucky to have found a
good home with you all.
