I'll bet you've not heard this sewing machine problem before

Hm... Given that the 2" long jobs we had in Malta lived in the sewers, I beg to differ on that score! Well, I'm sure they don't wash their feet after climbing out of the sewers and could therefore spread disease, but we had two different categories of them on Guam -- the earwig-looking types that crawled and the beetle-looking types that flew (IIRC one was German and one was American) and we were told specifically that it was safe to clean up after them, although not to use bleach because apparently they love bleach (??!!!??!!) and that once we cleaned up an area they had invaded, the area was food-safe. OTOH, it is far more toxic to deal with rodent feces and urine because the feces and urine contain deadly toxins and the best way to deal with them are to sweep solids up VERY gently wearing a face mask to prevent inhalation of airborne particles and to use a good disinfectant on dried liquids again wearing a face mask to prevent inhalation of anything that might become airborne. If you get rats or mice in your attic or under your house, you have to be EXTREMELY careful how you dealt with their leavings. Not so with cockroaches. This is what I meant. |

This is a very standard museum insect control technique that's easy on electronics. Not so good for ivory, wax, films, paints on canvas, wood glues and materials saturated with water, but should do fine on sewing machines. Freezing is used to control/stop mold on art canvas and doesn't destroy the painting. -- Never trust a dog to watch your food. |
