Default Finished a small quilt

Oh my gosh! Sandy - your quilting is beautiful & the dragon is sure to be a
hit with your eye doctor!

I made a baby quilt for a doctor that literally saved my life a couple of
years ago & she was so touched by it. Last year, I made a music themed
quilt for another doctor - that literally saved my life - & every time I see
him, he tells me how he has it displayed in his music room & when it's
chilly he pulls it around him. It's wonderful to give a quilt to someone
that really treasures it. I'm sure your eye doctor will!

My eye therapist has been so good to me for the past couple of years --
even driving to my home the night of my eye surgery to make sure I had
some glasses I'd be able to see with -- that I decided to make her a
small quilt (my favorite kind G). She's been given many different
dragons over the years, mostly from the children she treats, so I made
her a little dragon quilt. Before I could make it, though, I had to take
a machine appliqué class to learn a technique I thought I could actually
use, so that finally happened last summer. I finished the quilt today,
though I still need to sew on the label.

I machine quilted it, with feathers, pebbles and flowing (sort of) lines
-- I'd hoped those last would indicate motion, but I'm not sure I
succeeded. The dragon's eye is a garnet bead, and I put a double row of
corded piping next to the binding as an accent.

Pictures are posted he

like it, but -- even more important -- I hope my doctor likes it!

Sandy, it's gorgeous. No 'ifs' and 'buts', just plain wonderful.
The dragon is friendly and beautiful - but that quilting. Oh my! Your
work is just superb. And now you have 'conquered' appliqué g. I can
hardly wait to see what you will come up with next, now that you have
another string to your bow (one that you never thought you would
have!!).

It was good to revisit the sweet hummingbird, too.

Great quilting! Too bad the dragon doesn't have a pair of glasses on --
maybe he had LASIK? ;-P
