Default We never have ordinary problems in this house... OT (ish!)

I just went to load up the washing machine with a silk/delicates load,
and half the numbers on the temperature dial smudged off in an oily
smear on my fingers! ARGH! Now DH will have to pull the knob off and
engrave it for me so I can wash my fabric and clothes at the right
temperatures! GRRR!

I have no intention of fighting with Whirlpool for a new knob. As the
washing machine already has a large crack in the outer drum (held
together with duct tape!), it has a limited life anyway and I'm saving
up for a Dyson! I just don't want to have to buy it before we replace
the conservatory. That big Dyson drum will be perfect for washing
quilts!

That's true, Kate. Nobody has ever said, "Kate is just sooo boring".
Is it possible that you could just paint some dots on the blank dial,
assuming you could figure out where to paint them? Polly

I know the feeling of frustration. I put a load of towels in my Maytag gas
dryer last night and 1-1/2 hours later it was still running. I went and
checked and they were still damp and cold. My 5 year extended warranty ran
out last month wouldn't you know it!!!

You have the most interesting life, that's certain. Good luck with the
washing.

At least your dryer still spins...

I have resigned myself to sweater racks for a few more months. Every
time I have enough saved to get a dryer, the truck breaks. I wonder
if I could install a roof rack to hang my undies from, go for a drive
and voila! Dry clothes.

my gas dryer still dries, but when it stops at the end of the cycle, it
waits a few minutes and starts up on the next one... so if you don't go open
the door at the end of the cycle and leave it open, it would run all day.

They said $80 for the visit and maybe another $100 for the part... or maybe
only $20 they wouldn't know til they got here.

for $180 i could start shopping for a new one....

That is a GREAT idea! My husband's truck has a ladder rack and I could
string a clothesline across the bed of the truck and get the drying done
when I go shop for fabric.

I went to empty the final load in the washing machine so it would be a
job completed, but it was exactly as I had loaded it.

Forgot to press Start so it hadn't- so now thats a job carried over
into tomorrow - Uggg!

lol
I remember to start the washer, but then I forget to transfer things to
the dryer. ANd when they get into the dryer, I forget to take them out
and fold them....must be part of the ADHD....or maybe I'm suffering from CRS
