Naming of a quilt
I am trying to think of a name for my white and green Irish Chain quilt.
It's at the longarmer's so no pictures yet but I'd like to have a label all made when I get it back in a few weeks. That way I can sew part of the label when sewing on the binding. Any suggestions as to a name?? The back does have shamrocks. Tamara |

Naming of a quilt
Tamara wants a name for her Irish Chain quilt... So I suggest: Fáilte isteach! Mean's "welcome in" in Irish. Pronounced FAWL-chuh ISH-tach (the last 'ch' sounds like the 'ch' in Scottish "loch") Anastasia --who graduates TODAY! YAY! |

I do know how it will be quilted. I knew what I wanted and we found the
perfect patterns. Here is a link to the quilt pattern for the centers. http://www.bobbin-around.com/images/...tic%20Knot.jpg The rest of the quilt will be stitched on the diagonal. I was told it's a tradition looks for an Irish Chain quilt. In the borders will be cables. It is started and looks wonderful. Just what I wanted. I am so please I am entering it in the county fair this summer. Tamara Roberta Zollner wrote: What kind of quilting design? Or don't you know yet? Naming of a quilt
I am trying to think of a name for my white and green Irish Chain quilt.
According to www.englishirishdictionary.com, "chain" in Irish is "slabhra". That entry has the most bizarre examples I have ever seen in a dictionary. I guess it says something about contemporary Ireland that everybody needs a translation for "to own that fraction of the ordinary share capital of the last owned company through the intermediary or chain of intermediaries". ==== j a c k at c a m p i n . m e . u k === http://www.campin.me.uk ==== Jack Campin, 11 Third St, Newtongrange EH22 4PU, Scotland == mob 07800 739 557 CD-ROMs and free stuff: Scottish music, food intolerance, and Mac logic fonts |
