Today, I wandered in to A.C. Moore, to discover DMC floss was on sale 8 for
a $1. One woman was kitting up a chart, another getting 1 of each DMC
number, with 2 or more of certain numbers - just to have.

I noticed the lady with one (or more) of each checking out in the lane
beside me and told the clerk she should be glad the lady in red hat hadn't
come to her line and why. The clerk then told me of the day, her third
working there, of a woman that had come through with a cart full to the top
with floss skeins - 3300 of them to be exact. Took almost an hour to check
her out. Paid cash in small bills and coin.

I chuckled all the way home.

When our new Jo-anne's opened they had floss on sale at the midnight madness.
They were scanning the floss a skein at a time. A year later, I pointed the
inefficiency of this out to a manager, 'but we have to have inventory control'
he said. Sez I, so tally them and scan under a generic floss number, then the
next day inventory the remaining floss" He slapped his forehead at the
practicality of the idea......

And I'm sure I would have been the one stuck behind her in line! LOL

This reminded me of a time , i was just wondering what present i will
give a good friend who turned 50, when i walk by a shop that made a
sale of Dmc embroidery floss , and they sold it for a 75 Agorot [our
pennies] a real bargain , so without hesitating i went in and bought
50 skeins, Got a big plastic Sea through , Bowl , threw all 50 skeins
in it wrapped it in 50 cm x 50 cm canvas ,,,,, she was thrilled .

You mean I'm NOT the inly person this happens to? I warn people that getting
behind me is tantamount to screwing up the transaction of the person in
front of me!

What a great idea, Mirjam! And it undoubtedly looked nice packaged that way
- like candy skeins of floss filling the bowl.
