Default Roll Call: What did you do "quilty" today?

Well, I didn't do anything yesterday because I had to work. Today I
decided that I wanted to do something other than just planning, so I
cut background squares for my BOM. Now I'm off to cut some freezer
paper to use as stabilizer for said background squares. Perhaps next
time I have a day off I will get the chance to actually sew.

I printed out the foundations for the PP BOM blocks. Maybe I'll get to sew
tomorrow.

LOL - that's what I keep telling myself! It's still a struggle though.

Yes, I know - I remember your dismay when your DH chose the pattern! but,
think of the relief when it is done g and the warm glow when you receive
all the appreciation for it. And it really is lovely, you know.

Every so often out of guilt that it has taken so long, I do some quilting

Sharon, stop 'passing it'. Everytime you have a few minutes do another
stitch or two. Do NOT block time out for it as you won't do it. Remember
when I was just starting to be able to sew again? I did it in 10 min
increments....and I got a TWIN SIZE quilt top done in a few
months.......well....you can get the quilting done the same way. Just keep
telling yourself you are doing it for someone VERY SPECIAL to you.
(Remember how we would have the kids take a 'bite of' for Mom and one for
Dad and one for grandma, etc, when they didn't wanna eat? Well......use
the same principal. Don't count stitches........count the ppl you love
including the ppl on RCTQ. You may run outta ppl before you run out of
stitches

I KNOW you can....if I can do it....so can you.

Ok, it's not "quilty", but I did get 3/4s of a purse sewn for Miss Fussy
Rose, who turns 9 at 11:20 am today. I used elephant fabric for the outside,
and a cute mouse print for the lining.

I also attempted to sew badges on Brownie vests, but couldn't find my
invisible thead. Do you know how hard it is to find something that's
invisible???

I didn't get any sewing done... but did receive a special goody in the
mail! Nancy's Notions had advertised a great deal on thread with a nice
storage case AND a sewing machine travel case. I splurged. It came today.
I am so excited!

I hope to get back to work on the DWR tomorrow.

Friday I bought fabric to be ready to jump right in on joining my guild
BOM's from last year (need the top assembled by our November meeting).
That will be a simple sashing -- 3 narrow rows of fabric (dark purple on
the outside - white in the middle) with 9 patches in the cornerstones.
You can see the EQ version in my webshots folder. All 24 blocks are
finished. It is just the sashing I need to complete.

So hopefully by this time next week... the notorious DWR will be on its
way to the long arm quilter in Minnesota... and the Purple/White BOM will
be ready to go when I get the DWR back!

No sewing here, either. That will happen in a few days. I've washed
and cut about 10 yards of fabric into half yards and fat quarters in an
assortment of lights, mediums and darks. I also tested out cutting the
fabric on my newly fabricated cutting table (it is about 23" x 35").
I've constructed a table top on which I have glued a cutting mat. This
top fits on a keyboard stand that I am able to adjust to a comfortable
height (I'm 5'8"). I'll be taking this cutting table to a weekend quilt
retreat that starts on Friday; I cannot wait! The project I've signed
up for is Hollow Cube. The project is in a book titled ' The Big Book
of Building Block Quilts' by Sara Nephew. For those interested you can
see the quilt here :
http://www.clearviewtriangle.com/qui...y/qgbbbbq.html
I even had the unexpected pleasure of ordering my book and ruler from
the delightful Sara Nephew herself! Next I must prepare goody bags for
my quilt guild buddies who are also attending the retreat.

Oh - lucky you!

Please promise to post pictures of the finished result of
your retreat. I have been wistfully contemplating projects
in that book for a while.

Once you find it, you'll have to start tying it down in a very visible
place -- that invisible stuff is murder to find. G Please wish Miss
Fussy Rose a very happy birthday from me!

Will do ! But this may take a while to finish as all my projects do. I
finished only the top of last year's class. Here it is...
