Thanks Kate! My cousin got all the math genes in the family; she's an
electrical engineer! I'm good with history, writing, art, all the stuff I think is fun! But happily, I have a good teacher and I think I may be getting the hang of it. Just hope I continue to do so through the next few semesters until I get my math requirement done, then I won't have to worry about it anymore. -- Debi Chaos, panic and disorder ... my work here is done. "Kate G." wrote in message ... Good Luck on your exam! Long ago (in a previous lifetime) I did pretty good with math... Not sure that part of my brain still functions.... I'm sure you'll do great! Well I did some applique while watching football with dh. He's always
complaining how I don't sit and watch a show with him. I can't handle any type of violence or heavy drama (to much emotions for me). It's been a while since I did something quilty. School has started! -- Carole (who will now go sew a few rows or perhaps machine quilt a WIP) Champlain, NY http://photos.yahoo.com/ceridwen_rhea http://360.yahoo.com/profile-Pp9n.fI...NCfp9E0UU6hGPI Treasure your Mind, Cherish your Reason, Hold to your Purpose Epictetus (52 c.e - 135 c.e.) Nancy's Notions had advertised a great deal on thread with a nice storage case AND a sewing machine travel case. I splurged. It came today. I am so excited! I hope to get back to work on the DWR tomorrow. Friday I bought fabric to be ready to jump right in on joining my guild BOM's from last year (need the top assembled by our November meeting). That will be a simple sashing -- 3 narrow rows of fabric (dark purple on the outside - white in the middle) with 9 patches in the cornerstones. You can see the EQ version in my webshots folder. All 24 blocks are finished. It is just the sashing I need to complete. So hopefully by this time next week... the notorious DWR will be on its way to the long arm quilter in Minnesota... and the Purple/White BOM will be ready to go when I get the DWR back! I went to a group community quilts day with some members of my guild. We
sandwiched some tops that had been donated, sewed on labels, machine quilted a couple of quilts, and layed out some donated quilt blocks to make another top. Of course, there was lots of chatting, but no chocolate! :-( -- Susan in Kingston ON trying to get all the fall projects completed before heading south for the winter.... http://community.webshots.com/user/sbtinkingston "Kate G." wrote in message ... Roll Call: What did you do "quilty" today?
Yesterday (Sat, Oct. 14) was our big guild Fall Meeting. The chapter
that I belong to were hosts for the event. For the last few months we have been busy making name tags, center pieces for the tables and so on. Yesterday many of us were there at 7 AM to get stuff set up. It was a great success. Every one had fun. We gave away lots of door prizes, had a Hat contest (the theme was "The Mad Hatter's Tea Party"), lunch was wonderful, as were the bagels and muffins and such at the beginning. Our speaker was Becky Goldsmith, of "Piece o' Cake Designs" and she was great and funny too. Finally got home about 4 and crashed big time. G Pati, in Phx |

Does working on my soon to be quilt room count? We are hoping to sell
one house and move back into the other. (any positive vibes in selling would well be appreciated, btw) I spent yesterday working on the closet shelving. I'm trying to make every bit of space work so it has sort of been like a puzzle. My quilting stuff is scattered over 2 houses and I am anxious to get back to whatever normal is. Hopefully it will be before all my hair goes gray. Fun topic Kate. Taria Kate G. wrote: I didn't get any sewing done... but did receive a special goody in the mail! Sandy - your star is gorgeous.
We had a class last year on DWR and I taught a combination method using light weight vilene foundations for the rings (left in the quilt after sewing), and templates (Shar's) for the wedges and centres. We got about 6 KS DWRs and one amazing WR variation finished in less than two months. I have hated this quilt from the get go Pat. Truly, totally and completely
hated it. It sits there on the back of my chair waiting for me each time I pass it and it is all I can do not to go for it with a pair of scissors!!! Every so often out of guilt that it has taken so long, I do some quilting on it but geeze it hurts. Hate, hate hate!!! -- Sharon from Melbourne Australia (Queen of Down Under) http://www.geocities.com/shazrules/craft.html (takes awhile to load) http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/shazrules/my_photos (same as website but quicker) "Patti" wrote in message ... Pat in Virginia wrote: Kate, You asked the question on Saturday, and today is Sunday. However, I will report on what I did Friday! LOL First, I went to the PPQG Day Chapter meeting. I entered one Purple FQ into the FQ Drawing. I won six, including one of my own. So, I got five new purple pieces! Also, someone set up a table of stash from a deceased member. We were invited to donate to the kitty to help the family. I put in a nice donation, and took a small piece of vintage fabric. It is very pretty, and will remind me of Ann. I also entered my name in the Winter Mystery Drawing and was the winner there too. This prize is absolutely FANTASTIC!! I won a two yard cut of fabric a guild member recently bought in Africa. The selvage says: Veritable Auden Real Wax A043695. It is a dark blue Stylized Leaf print on a light blue ground; I think it was originally a white ground. The design runs length of the fabric. This will work VERY well with the Indigo pieces I bought in February. I only bought a few, so I guess I will have to stock up at IQF in Houston. G The program at the meeting was a trunk show given by a talented local couple. After the meeting, I went up to Richmond to the Richmond (Virginia) Quilt Guild Show. Saw many pretty quilts. Bought about three FQ. A lovely, quilty day!! PAT PS: Is anyone familiar with that Auden Real Wax Fabric? To me it has some resemblance to the Indonesian Batik. Wow, Pat! What a great day! And that Auden Real Wax fabric sounds gorgeous! Have I mentioned lately that I *love* blue? -- Sandy in Henderson, near Las Vegas my ISP is earthlink.net -- put sfoster1(at) in front http://home.earthlink.net/~sfoster1 AKA Dame Sandy, Minister of Education |
