Default My Quilt For Kids photo and a question about Project Linus

Here's the link to the quilt I did for Quilt for Kids from the fabric
they sent me. I returned it last week along with 3 more. I do have a
question about Project Linus, which seems to be the charity of choice
in my area. There are several drop off points close to my home. I
checked with the local chapter in Madison, WI (my home area) and they
deliver at least 400 quilts a MONTH to the two area childrens
hospitals in Madison, according to their website. So, my question
is, do any of you sew for Project Linus? I did a Google search for
threads on this group about it and only old ones showed up. The
quidelines are very similar to Quilts for Kids, although they accept
knitted and crocheted blankets as well. Do you have any opinions
about Project Linus? Thank you, Donna

I love it! Those are great fabrics - some little one is going to be very
happy to receive it.

My knowledge of Project Linus is limited, but I plan to get involved
with our local group. It sounds as though your area has an active group
with 400 quilts a month! Wow!

We have 2 Project Linus groups that my guild feeds into. Both are very
active. I have donated a lot of crocheted blankies -- but no quilts. One
of our groups meets monthly at one of the LQS to make blankies.

There are a GREAT organization. Some groups feed to hospitals. Others to
police/fire departments. There is clearly plenty of need -- so finding a
place to give your quilt to a needy child isn't hard!

Thanks, Kate, for the kind words about Project Linus! We have chapters in
all 50 states - 378 chapters total to be exact! Besides quilts and afghans,
we also accept polar fleece blankets.

I and our local group sew for Project Linus UK.
We have a local new charity for bereaved children which is now coming
under the umbrella of our PJ, as well as the hospice and hospital in the
area.

I stitch for Newborns in Need. Their needs are a little different from
Linus. They also receive bonnets, daygowns, and burial layettes as well as
very gently used little garments.
This is probably a good time of year to find nice fleece at a good
price. For those who want to help but don't sew, fringing fleece is fast
and easy. Linus has a wonderful site for doing fleece. Do note that fringe
needs to be short; long fringe gets tangled in tiny fingers.

Howdy!

Yes. Our quilt guild supports Project Linus, too.
PL takes hand-quilted quilts. g
