Help - make my holiday please?
Hello
I've been 'lurking' for a while now, and find this group very interesting. I was not planning on joining in for a while yet, but my husband has planned and booked a holiday to Orlando Florida as a surprise treat for my 50th Birthday and our wedding aniversary. Please help me find quilt/embroidery supply shops in the Orlando and Tampa areas of Florida! We in the UK so envy you the wonderful goodies you talk about and I want some too! Please forgive me if I have broken any rules of ettiquette, but this is urgent to me, I've only got two days to prepare! Best wishes to all! Wendy Play in the UK |

..... Please help me find quilt/embroidery supply shops in the Orlando and Tampa areas of Florida! ......... Will you have a rental car while in the States? If so, there is a *very* nice needlework shop about a 30 minute drive north of the Orlando area. It is in a little town called Mt. Dora. The shop is DREAM STITCHERS at 141 N. Highland St. Phone is 352-735-4438. The easiest way to find stuff like this is to use this link... http://www.ypbellsouth.com . It is for the Bell South Yellow Pages. Just put in the type of business (needlework OR quilting) and the city & state (Orlando, FL OR Tampa, FL) and it will give you all the info you need. You can even get driving directions! If you know the addy of your hotel, you can get the directions before you leave home and make the trip to this side of the pond!!! I found the one LNS and 4 LQS when I looked just now. I was in Orlando several years ago and found a very nice quilt shop on the main street that is on the SOUTH side of Disney World (can't remember the name of the street -- sorry). It is several miles east of Disney and on the north side of the street. Hope you have a GREAT time and get lots of stash to take home with you. Happy B'Day & congrats on the anniversary :-))! I used to live in FL and can recommend Queen Ann's Lace at 715 E. Vine
Street in Kissimmee, FL. This is very close to Disney World. Another that is probably 75 miles away is Rainbow's End at 941 Broadway in Dunedin, FL. This is one of the largest. The following is a link to a listing of FL Quilt Shops. I left FL several years ago so I can't be much help on any new ones. http://www.kathkwilts.com/shops/florida.html Good Luck and enjoy your stay. One word of advice however. FL can get very hot during the summer so bring light clothing and lots of sun-screen. Shirley "Wendy Playle" wrote in message .. . Wendy, welcome - boy have you come to the right place for information and
lots of good people! What a wonderful birthday and anniversary gift! I found a good link to Florida shops. I have been to most of them from Mt. Dora north. One shop that I can recommend but I don't see it on the list is the Cottonbelle in Dunellen which is west of Ocala. But I have been to The Quilt Shop in DeLand, Whipporwill Station, The Red Barn, Cottonbelle, and the shops in Mt. Dora. All were wonderful. This link also provides a list of shows by date. It looks like some are going on in Orlando so you may be able to get to one or two of those as well. Here's the link, hope it helps. Have a great time! We want a full report with pictures! http://members.aol.com/anotherpat/fl...lorida%20Shops Alice in NJ www.ourcyberfamily.us "Shirley.Caylor" wrote in message ... Hello Wendy!
Welcome to RCTQ. This is a fun NG. Most of us adore Chocolate. In fact, that just happens to be my area of specialty. Newcomers are advised to send a pound or two of chocolate for vetting. Kindly post your chocolate choice(s) to my Palace in Virginia. I will sample all bits for quality and flavor and send you an e mail report ... eventually. G Now, I do not have info on shops in FL, but I have other suggestions for travelers! Be SURE to use your Sun Block, a hat, and good quality sun glasses. Florida sun is especially intense. If I were traveling from another country to the USA I would buy bunches of US Postage stamps to take home for future swaps. You might want to consider that. Then some time when you want to be in a USA based swap, you can send postage stamps to the hostess for the return mail. She/he could use the correct amount and return the excess stamps to you. Have a wonderful trip. PAT, Official Chocolate Taster of RCTQ and Queen of Everything! Wendy Playle wrote: Hello I've been 'lurking' for a while now, and find this group very interesting.
