Buying curtain fabric online in the UK
Hi guys
I've had a quick search and I can't seem to find any FAQ on shopping! Is there one? Does it cover the UK? I live in a fairly small town in the NW and we have about 1 fabric shop which has really expensive curtain fabric, and expects to make the curtains up themselves. Their thermal curtain lining fabric is twice the price of the market in London where I used to live, but buying stuff there and bringing it back here is just not going to happen! Does anyone know of a good online fabric shop, preferably which has some kind of pictures/samples rather than expecting you to know the brand? I could I suppose borrow the samples from the posh shop and then try to get the same thing cheaper, but I probably don't want posh fabric anyway! Thanks! Katie |

Their thermal curtain lining fabric is I've recently seen prices from £3 and £4 / metre upwards for blackout lining. Whereabouts are you in the North West? I'm in North East Wales and may be able to give you some tips. Are you anywhere near Colne - in whcih case thank your lucky stars and go fabric shopping in the industrial area up there. See Kate's super duper sewing website for a list of places to shop, and places to internet shop. http://www.diceyhome.free-online.co.uk/kate.htm One word of warning, Croft Mill (excellent people) are going through some turmoil at the moment. I spoke to them last week, and she said Abakhans (the newest owner) were moving out and the place was chaos. She said there will be a stock taking and hence a new catalogue in the New Year and it would be better to wait till then to order. HTH, Sarah |

Katie You need to trot over to Croft Mill's shop in Colne, Lancs. They have a huge range, and it's worth a day trip. Address on my Fabric List on my web site (URL below). Ignore the Hartley's entry - they closed in October. Croft will send samples also. -- Kate XXXXXX Lady Catherine, Wardrobe Mistress of the Chocolate Buttons http://www.diceyhome.free-online.co.uk Click on Kate's Pages and explore! |

I am not too far away but it would be a day out - I'll have to see how desperate Spouse is for his study curtains! Katie |

Curtain swatches are a decent size. Just tell them I sent you! I take a trip over there any time I'm north of the Humber! -- Kate XXXXXX Lady Catherine, Wardrobe Mistress of the Chocolate Buttons http://www.diceyhome.free-online.co.uk Click on Kate's Pages and explore! |
