How many strands of floss are the equivelant to pearl cotton size 3
I can't find pearl cotton size 3 in the color I want to use for a project. If I substitute embroidery floss how many strands do I need to use. TIA

I would guess 8 strands. I found a site that said 2 strands for #12, 4 for #8, 6 for #5. Artfabrik.com/a-guess-on-thread-sizes

Perle thread is smoothly twisted rather than strands stitched flat. Here is a link that shows how to make perle(pearl) thread from floss. http://www.lkreinmiller.com/uploads/...perlecoton.pdf For perle 3 I would use 8 strands of floss (2 lots of 4 strands each) and start with more than a 1 yard length, for example 1 and a half or even 2 yards. have fun |
