Default Quilting Machine Advice Please

Hi, I just found this NG today and thought that some of you might be able to
give me some advice on buying a quilting machine. Although I would love to
have one, I really can't afford one of the long arm machines so I was
thinking of buying one of those frames that use your regular sewing machine.

I saw one at a quilt show last week but it just had a frame with no legs or
any attachments. I would like to find something that includes items like
table, or legs and allows you to follow a pointer ( or similar function ).

Can anyone give me some advise as to what to look for, brand names, and
approximate costs of these.

Thanks,

Shirley Caylor

Hope you don't mind if another newbie jumps on the bandwagon. I just went &
signed as well. The only machine I've ever seen is the longarm at the quilt
shop. I'd love to see a home model, but have never even been to a quilt
show. Just learned today that a co-worker's mom is going to the one in
Rosemont via a bus trip. That would have been so much fun!! Oh, well,
maybe next time.

I bought a frame from John Flynn Quilt at the Quilt
Show last weekend. I haven't tried it out yet but I am
soon. You use your regular SM to quilt with.
Check it out at www.flynnquilt.com
