Default Hanging latch hook

OK, I stitched the binding on the Snoopy latch hook and left a casing at
the top so we can hang it. I went to look at dowels and finials and
could only find knobs that fit on the skimpy, thin (3/16" I think)
dowels which won't be strong enough to hold a 20"W x 30"L latch hook
piece. I believe a 3/8" dowel will fit in the casing since the rubber
grip on my ink pen will fit in there and that is what It measures.
Might be able to go slightly thicker since the rubber didn't want to
slide through the casing whereas a smooth dowel will. Any ideas where I
can find something to put on the ends of a 3/8" dowel and what kind of
wire/cord should be used to hang it?

I'd check a window treatments store.

I used knobs, normally used on drawers and cupboards. There's a big variety
available.

Did you just glue them on?

DH made a hole in the shank of the knob, before gluing the dowel in. My
dowel is thicker than yours, so he had to reduce that too. The result was
admired by other stitchers who saw it, as well as the hardanger hanging
which it held.
