sewing machine feet prices/quality
A little story about sewing machine feet. I have sewn miles and
miles on my Bernina for well over 15 years. Not a problem with a foot. I use most of them a little some of them a LOT. I have been machine quilting on my Brother PQ1500 for a couple of years and the darning/free motion foot (they call it the quilting foot) just broke when I picked it up to put it on the machine. Just broke. I called a local shop and sure enough they have one $36.95 + tax. WOW I thought that is a lot for a Brother foot. I called the shop that sold me the machine (actually bought the machine over the internet) and they had the foot I needed for $14.95 + $3.85 priority mail. I had it in 2 days and didn't have to go anywhere! Guess I have a couple of points here. Bernina feet are better feet. The money you pay is for a better product. The other is that you need to shop around. The local shop should really be ashamed of themselves. I can understand a tad more in price but more than double is unreasonable IMO. Taria |
