Default Roll Call!

Well, I had to add myself to frappr....there was no one representing
Vermont !....
I started quilting about 30yrs ago...but didn't really get into it again
until I stumbled
on a chat group on the internet ! Now I don't have time for other crafts,
etc. that
I used to do !. I enjoy rctq a lot...especially when I learn about a new
product or
technique...viewing others quilts and general chit chat. Mary

Default Roll Call!

Hi,
I am Teri (Terbear on RCTQ). I am pinned, but you can only see me if you
zoom in real close to Orange County ,California, because Debbi is basically
sitting on my lap. I have been quilting for almost 2 years. I started when
my DH bought me my first sewing machine...and only after it remained in the
box for 4 months.
I organize many swaps on the RCTQ, and am currently running the birthday
block swap, the your pick swap, kid's siggy block swap & the black, white &
red all over swap.
I am the curator of the HUG gallery & also host the RCTQ BOM pictures.
I am a stay at home mom, as well as a small business owner. I have two boys,
ages 8 1/2 & 2 1/2....lovingly know as monsters number 1 & 2, when they are
not being absolute perfect little angels. My DH & I will be celebrating our
9th anniversary on Thanksgiving day (this year)
In a nut shell, that is me.

Ok, in addition to this new fun frappr toy, we have had quite a few
newbies join us lately. And a few oldies seem to be crawling out of the
woodwork. VBG So... let's all introduce ourselves. If you pinned
yourself on Frappr, let us know so we can see where you are.

Default Roll Call!

Well I haven't answered a roll call in a good few years, but here I am in
the south east corner of Australia, with Dee and Chris (and Sharon if she
posts herself), and a bit south of Trish and Melinda. I can't see as far as
Cas though.

Retired Air Force living with three demanding cats (Enness, Boofhead and
Donut) and a small herd of wannabes (strays and neighbourhood cats - they
aren't mine but they wanna be). My home is in a small rural town in some
very nice wine-growing country between the Pyrenees and Grampians Mtns (and
yes - we have Pyrenees Mtns in Australia!)

I am pretty much housebound now but I teach quilting at home, which gives me
an excuse to run the biggest stash in town and probably close to the biggest
library in the country!! I just love to watch the faces of new quilters
when they realise they really can do things they had thought of as "too hard
for me". I have done my share of most forms of needlecraft (embroidery,
tapestry, dressmaking, doll making) but quilting has been a constant in my
life for about 30 years now. I am currently experimenting with applique
techniques.

I am a relative newcomer to rctq (although I was lurking around a few years
ago on a different ID), and was recently dragged kicking and screaming into
the world of msgr by Jeanne. I have always loved having a world-wide
quilting family, and technology has made this all so easy.

Good points : I am persistent, easy going, and have a sense of humour
Bad points : persistent = stubborn, easy going = definitely not hung up on
this completion thing so many find important (currently about a dozen WIPs),
sense of humour = WEIRD

If you are ever visiting down this way call in for a vegemite sandwich and a
lamington ROFL Just watch out for wandering cats - they have right of
way at all times.

I must confess I have been lurking a lot but it's so much fun to see what
everyone is working on!

We have our first real snow of the season today (this WILL be here for a
few months!) so now I know I must get busy on the table runner for a
birthday on Sunday, a baby quilt for my Goddaughter's new little girl, the
scrap quilt for my DD and SIL and my brown bag project for quilt guild!
This project is truly interesting -- we trade bags, add a fat quarter, and
make a new block for someone every month. Can't wait to get my blocks back
in August; they will be all black and white.

I'm a retired school media specialist and am truly enjoying flexible time to
quilt and do other crafts. I did pin myself to the frapper but have no idea
how to check it out... help?! I added my Paul Bunyan quilt to the picture
list -- that was so much fun. Just like doing a jigsaw puzzle!

Ok, you caught me crawling out! I'm up here still, on the North Coast! I'm
just here lurking around, reading and sending my thoughts and prayers when
needed, and celebrating when something good happens!

I think I first found RCTQ when I was living as an expat in Venezuela -- it
ws a wonderful link to a comfort zone I really missed. We've been back
stateside for 6 years now. I would love to experience expat life again.

I'm Catherine, American expat living in Germany and brand new to quilting.
I introduced myself to the group a bit ago and since then have been
reading daily.

I'm currently immersed in a beautiful book by Jinny Beyer recommended to
me on hand quilting. I'm also working on a lovely Dresden plate sent to
me by a friendly fellow-quilter in this group, a leetle beet at a time and
savoring every moment. When I'm not doing that I'm chasing my DS around
the house as he explores all the mystery and grandeur that is the
"terrible two's".

I've been pretty quiet about posting, but I really enjoy reading and am
learning loads. Glad to meet you all and glad to be here.

Taria here in So. Ca. I just added myself to the frappr. I am behind
Teri and Debbi but about 60 miles from them. I live in San Bernardino
now but will be moving back up the our high desert house in a bit over a
year when DH retires.

I've been married to dh 25 years this past August. We have 2 kids.
Both are in college. DD is 21 and will graduate in June. She is
a geography whiz and is working in GIS now. Ds is 22 and has another
year of school to go. He is living in San Diego and works for the PD
there. The are really both great kids I am so proud of.

I took a quilting class in '75 but have always sewed. Mrs. Flatten and
4-H helped a lot. The quilting has taken over for the most part these
days.

Georgia pup is 18 months old today! She is loads of fun and a bundle of
energy. I am a reformed cat hater and now live with Lily and Maki
cats. They have stolen my heart.

My old web age is still around:
http://home1.gte.net/res6mc9p/tlw/taria/pages/index.htm
There are lots of old Singer machines and quilts there and I
notice dh has put a lousy photo of me up too.

Me, meeee!! An oldie for sure crawling out of the woodwork.
Haven't been very talkative lately, but I do want to say thank you again for
all the lovely folk who sent hug blocks and squishies to my sad mailbox
recently. I can't tell you how heartening it has been and how much I
appreciated each and every one!
Never underestimate these little thoughtful kindnesses. They can go far
toward encouraging a flagging spirit!
Now Wendy, don't go getting any designs on raiding my stash...you may have
your pirate (did you notice that that word is 'irate' with a
P?....)chickens, but I have my Viking hoards, (3 bad kitty QIs), who will
'soil your quilts and stomp your chickens'...heehee

chipper-in NC, but too lazy to figure out the technicalities of the map
thingy. Knowing that I'm about an hour north of Mary Jo's is all that
really matters about location.
