Default news. individual.net may have lost it???

Almost every post I try to open gets me this message- 'Message is no longer
available on the server'- and the post disappears from my list of rctq
messages. Is anybody else having this happen to them with the German
server? All those 'no longer available' posts are on Google. Crazy!

Yes, Leslie. I'm getting that too. It reminds me of Christmas with
Earthlink and MindSpring. They used to all go on holiday and let the 'low
end drag'. We may want to send them some suggestions for hangover cures.
I've seen some er, ummm.... interesting cures on tv. Polly

So, as soon as I post that, I clicked on my own message about weather and
got the "message is no longer available . . . .!"

http://www.newsparrot.co.uk/
on this page is a list of ng servers.
the first one had the best stats to i clicked on that.
it opened inside my Outlook Express like i usually read rctq.
i didnt have to do any other config on it.
it assumed the config i had rctq set up with re email, return addy etc.
has worked fine since.
ok, i did have to download the whole long list of ngs on that server, took a
few minutes.
just to to tools/newsgroups, open that.
will ask if you want the list. click ok and wait, you can watch the list
download.
then you click tools/newsgroups and enter quilting into the search box and
it brings up rctq, subscribe and thats it.
has worked fine for me since i started a couple of weeks back.
hope that works for you and others on the lost server.
groggy cuz i got up half an hour ago and its only 6am now.
probly have to work, tho so far, not. less corporate baskets to deliver this
year and so far dh has copes with the load.
not holding out much hope i'll get out of it completely tho.
he knows i dont feel up to it fwiw.
crappy in the south pacific,
j.

I'm having the same problem with my PAID tera.news account. Been that way
for a couple of weeks. They shut down for December? The kids running it
has to go home and not stay in the dorm?

I use Google Groups to read the Newsgroups. I have not been having
any issues with reading older posts.

I think to keep storage down, they don't store messages for long,
whereas google intentionally archives everything. However the time
individual keeps them for seems to be shortening.

You can get round it to some extent, by when you download headers, make
sure you download messages to, so if you come back to them later, the
info is stored on your computer.

Cheers
Anne

Naaaah, ya'll. It's not an 'old' message storage problem. It's the newest
ones that are being tossed. They're just having a little Christmas cheer.
Stay calm. And Anne! So glad to see that you did indeed Finally get home.
I know you're mighty happy to be there. Polly
