While at the reeealy big Houston show, I tried on an alpaca cardigan
designed with jewel colors in almost a tumbling block design, and had to
have it. Anyone know how to care for it? The sales person said "Don't
use Woolite." TIA Nancycog in MD

How 'bout a photo of you in your lovely new cardigan? We all want to see
it!

I don't understand why, but I have heard that Woolite is a terrible way to
treat...wool. It's very harsh and does something degrading to the fibers at
the cellular level, or something. Maybe I dreamed it.

No, you didn't dream it. Woolite is terrible on almost everything.

Thanks, everyone, for your replies. Sounds like you treat it like an
heirloom quilt. If I can't find Orvis, I'll use baby shampoo. I'll try
taking photos soon modelling this beauty and Teri can post them for me.
As I said before, ask a question here and get an answer...FAST!! Bless
you all. Nancycog in MD

Don't know if you want to here this or not, but:
An alpaca is the size of a sheep body and legs, but with a
long neck and head like a llama.

Alpacas are very territorial and some sheep farmers now put an alpaca
or two in with their sheep herds, the alpacas can see danger, having
their heads in the air and all, and they attack intruders. They have
very fine wool.

OOOOoooooohhhhh Nancy - I looked at those too and wanted one Sooooooooo
bad!

You lucky, lucky girl you! Want to share? You get it for the first
half of winter, I get it for the second half? Sounds good to me?
Right?

Of course, I'd have the same problem - how to care for an alpaca
sweater! LOL

They were beautiful and oh soooooooooooo soft!

To heck with owning an alpaca - then you'd have to feed it and clean up
after it!

At that same booth I saw the alpaca sweater/cardigan - you could
actually buy/order alpaca!

Now that's the solution for me! LOL

Hugs,
Tina
