Default Thanks Kathy NV! (Lookie what I got!)

I got a little package from Kathy NV last week. I kept meaning to sit down
and take a picture, and finally did.

Anyway, along with some neat cloisnonne beads, and some polymer (I think)
necklaces, that my DD stole (after reading that they were for her too),
Kathy sent me this beautiful spiral necklace. It reminds me of alexandrite
and feels so luxurious! What also thrills me is that I understand how to do
it! It's made with teardrop beads, and not I'm dying to try it, whenever I
get some drops. It is just beautiful!

Thanks again, Kathy! (I e-mailed you privately, too.)

One of the most beautiful stones I've seen was an alexandrite in colors very
different from what the simulated ones are, or the purple variant of the
simulations.. It shifted from a brownish peridot (but softer) color, to a
baby pink (not a blue pink). More soft yellow in it. It ended up set with
pale brown diamonds, and was incredibly stunning. That was when I learned
to love "ugly" odd brown diamonds, and **** yellow ones too.

Alexandrite usually look brown because the combine colors close to
complements, but on the yellow side. Yellowy green and a purple or magenta.

Great variation on spiral.

Those are alexandrite beads from MJ, and they do have the color
shift. I love alexandrite glass and use a lot of it. If I ever get
rich, I'd love to own a real gem one - they're far, far more
expensive than diamonds.

What also thrills me is that I understand how to do
it! It's made with teardrop beads, and not I'm dying to try it,

I knew you'd know how to make it when I sent it - that's why I picked
it for you. Folks, if you can do a spiral rope, that's what this is:
I simply used 6x9mm drops as the spiral beads around 8/0 lilac opal
gilt lined beads for the core. It worked up very quickly. I did try
it with extra drops to make it a little "fluffier," but that did not
look good at all - just a heads up.

I've since made one with all clear beads and drops, and it looks like
ice. I need to find someone with a bigger wrist than I have, because
I made it too long, and I can't bear to pull it apart.

Thanks again, Kathy! (I e-mailed you privately, too.)

And thank you for being so good as to take a picture. I'm am just
terrible at it.
