New Janome in April?
I got an e-mail announcing "New machines, including the quilting model
you've been hoping and waiting for." Unfortunately, they're being very mysterious about it and it won't debut until April. I'm hoping it won't be TOO pricey or larded with embroidery capability that I already have and don't want to pay for again. The mention of "machines" (plural) gives me hope they might actually have what I've been waiting for! If I can swing it, it will be time to trade in the 6500. Iris |

Now wouldn't that be just a hoot if Janome produced a quilting model
(meaning: knee lift, needle down, thread cutter and l - o - n - g arc) without putting a $10,000 price tag on it? I reckon most of us have reviewed the latest from Bernina and Viking and thought both: that's nice and you've got to be kidding (at the price). Polly "I.E.Z." My Janome 6600 has knee lift, needle down, thread cutter, and a 9 inch
harp. It's not as big as the new Bernina or Pfaff, but it's nice. And the price is nowhere near $10,000. Sunny |

So does my 6500 the 6600's predecessor. The 'normal' size harps look
titchy to me now. Sally at the Seaside~~~~~~~~~~~~~uk http://www.flickr.com/photos/sallyattheseaside/ Sunny wrote: My Janome 6600 has knee lift, needle down, thread cutter, and a 9 inch harp. It's not as big as the new Bernina or Pfaff, but it's nice. And the price is nowhere near $10,000. Sunny |

The brother 1500 that I bought maybe 8 or 9 years ago has those
features. They are handy. The thread cutter on that machine puts the one on the 6600 to shame. Neither needle threader is hot stuff but they both kind of work most of the time with fiddling. The 6600 is a lot of machine for the money though. Taria "Sally Swindells" wrote in message ... So does my 6500 the 6600's predecessor. The 'normal' size harps look titchy to me now. Howdy!
Iris, what have you been waiting for, in regards to sewing machines? .. or otherwise? "Sandy E" wrote in message ... Howdy! Iris, what have you been waiting for, in regards to sewing machines? .. or otherwise? R/Sandy - love my Janome I'll know it when I see it! I have the Janome 6500, the predecessor to the 6600 (the one Leslie has). My 6500 has a large harp, and a thread cutter, which I like. I like the buttonholes (I do garments occasionally) and the decorative stitches once in a while. The newer 6600 has a built-in walking foot, which would be nice, and a start-stop button (which might be nice, I'm not sure.) Anyway, I haven't had a new machine in a while now, so the itch has begun! I thought about trading in the 6500 for a 6600, but decided not to. One thing I would like is an adjustable knee lift. The 6500 one is too close for me and I often bump it (which brings the machine to a grinding halt, as it tsk-tsks, and reminds me I mustn't sew with the presser foot raised). Oddly enough, I have an older model Bernina with a knee lift, and *that* one is too far away and I have to reach for it! (Maybe it's me?) So I guess I'm hoping for an adjustable knee lift and maybe some other new bell or whistle that knocks my socks off. At a price that won't make me have to pawn my socks! Otherwise I'll just stick with my 6500, which is a very good machine. Iris |

I recently bought a 6500 and discovered the tsk-tsk option by accident....such a brilliant idea for people like me who forget to put the presser foot down while MQ'ing and then groan as the ripping out begins! And "tsk'tsk" is such an onomatopeic (sp?) way to describe the sound it makes Allison Oddly enough, I have an older model Bernina with a knee lift, and *that* one is too far away and I have to reach for it! It's going to have to start being able to do laundry or dishes or run
errands or SOMETHING to earn it's keep at those prices. Cindy "Polly Esther" wrote in message ... New Janome in April?
"suzy" wrote in message oups.com... I am hoping to find a machine that is a "work horse" but will give me "space" to do my own quilting - I'm from the school of thought that its not a quilt until it is quilted and while I know longarm quilters are very talented people I really enjoy being able to say "I" made the quilt from start to finish. If anyone has a suggestion for a machine they enjoy that would be good for someone like me who does her own quilting but also does art quilts which means I'm sewing through stuff some of my friends wouldn't put near their sensative machines I'd love to hear from you... Happy quilting... Every one of my friends who do a lot of really nice free motion quilting does so on a Juki. Cindy |
