I had already decided not to renew my subscription to Quiltmaker - sure glad
I didn't renew it after hearing this.

Maybe Mickie but not sure she is at
liberty to talk about it.

OMG! This sounds terrible! Poor Ann! I have subscribed to Quilters
Newsletter for a couple of decades now, but this sort of treatment could
make me change my ways when my subscription expires.

This issue has now been resolved by the new owners of the magazine.
Re- read Ann's blog. Don't go canceling subscriptions....the new
owners really aren't the ones at fault.

Default **NOT Quilters Newsletter Magazine!**

Quilter's Newsletter was very nasty to me in the 1990's over a subscription
issue (long story) and I have never had anything to do with them since.
Quilter's Newsletter has always been part of the same "stable" of magazines.

If Keepsake Quilting is also owned by this company, I'll be sure to throw
away their catalogues! They are overpriced anyway, IMO.

I don't think I agree -- it's hard to tell because Ann Champion apparently
isn't a lawyer (I am/was) and non-lawyers aren't always as clear about the
relevant facts as lawyers wish they could be, and I'm just assuming some
relevant facts. But it seems to me from what she wrote that the new owners
have received a benefit from Ms. Champion for which they have not paid, in
that they have acquired a business that received said benefit. In at least
some circumstances, this would give rise to an obligation on the part of the
new owners to pay up. And anywho, even if there is no legal obligation,
there appears to be an ethical one. I dunno. I'm just sayin'.

Furthermore, it appears that Ms. Champion was given the runaround by
somebody. Assuming the facts as Ms. Champion states them and as I assume
them to be, I would hesitate to do business with the new owners or anyone
affiliated with them.

If Ms. Champion says in her blog that the new owners have ponied up the
cash, I missed it. If the new owners do pony up, then all is forgiven
AFAIC.

I just read all of this for the first time and it doesn't sound to me
like she has had it resolved at all.

Okay, I see. Thanks for posting her update, Kathyl.

Thanks for making me go back and look for an update, Kathyl! (For anyone
else interested, the update is at http://annchampion.com/?p=265.) It's
good to know that things have been amicably worked out.

Bummer. I was looking forward to seeing just what rctq could do if they
launched an all-out attack. Polly

But the uproar will live on in Internetdom for decades! It's sort of
like starting a fire and then not being able to put it out.

All out attacks are a lot of work. Probably too much work for me.
(although I admit I probably will always hold a grudge against
Janome)
I will have to sit back and see how these magazines look. Seems
they are trying to put together a monpoly. I am glad there still are
some others. American Patchwork and Quilting is one of my
favorites. Think I'll stick with them.
