Default Singer question

Do any of the old Singers have longer throat space (did I say that right?)
to allow for quilting bigger quilts? For example...the Juki 98E in modern
machines.

201's and 15's are about as good as it gets. They have a lot of
area to work in but not as much as the Juki. I did a king on my
201 and it wasn't too bad at all. I have the Brother model that is
pretty close to the Juki. It has lots of space.

Most of the full sized cast iron ones have bigger holes through than
modern machines (not just a tad longer, but also higher, which makes
shoving a fat roll through easier), but watch out for the little ones:
the 3/4 sized 99, the Featherweight, and some of the really old ones are
smaller...

My 15-88 and hand crank 66 are both fairly generous, but I wouldn't try
a big quilt on my newly arrived Jones CS, the Featherweight, or the
little New Family model 12.

I don't know about the Juki, but I have a Singer 301 that has a long
"blade" (what they are called.) There are two different lengths of
blades for this machine, one is long and one is short. The short is
used to go into a cabinet and is about the standard length, while the
long one is used to work on top of a table and is a couple inches,
about 3, longer (it folds up to go into the case) I haven't quilted
any big quilts on it yet. I also have another Singer, a Touch and Sew
made in 1995 (I think the model no. is 9117) which has an attachment
to the free arm that makes the bed bigger; much bigger than anything I
have ever seen. This is used specifically for quilting. I don't have
much use for it because I have a desk built for the machine.

Heck, even my 99 has a larger throat than my Bernina! g But my 99 is a
handcrank, which makes machine quilting a bit tricky....
