ISO Yarn
Hi Guys,
OK -- so I know I can go to RCTY with this question but I *know* all of you already. Besides, I know there are a lot of knitters and crocheters here and those things *are* needlework :-)! I am looking for a source of angora yarn in some shade of turquoise or aqua and white. I Googled angora yarn and you can just *imagine* the number of results!!! I only need 1 skeing or ball of the color and 1 of white -- and they can be really *small* too! Here's the story -- you just *knew* I had a stroy, I bet. DH and I are the proud new parents of a 1968 Mustang 2+2 Fastback and her name is Lucille. She is white with a 2 tone aqua interior which is actually more like a turquoise. I want to knit a mirror warmer for the rear view mirror. Now, I should imagine that there are a few of you who will remember mirror warmers from your jaded youth. Anyway *any* car of that era that has a 21 tone aqua (aka turquoise) interior really *needs* an angora mirror warmer -- hence the search! I haven't knitted in ages but making a mirror warmer doesn't require great knitting skills -- LOL! I even have the knitting needles -- drug them out of my *very old* stash. What I don't have and can't seem to find ***this side of the pond*** is a source for 100% angora yarn! I bought some of that eyelash stuff cuz' I really like it but it gave me fits when I tried to knit with it!!! So, can any of you recommend a yarn shop online that carries 100% angora in some sort of shade of aqua or turquoise color? I could spend the rest of my life Googling for this! OOO -- maybe I will find a yarn shop in Lizard Land. have to ask Rachel Duke if she knows of one!! We are gonna "do" the LNS on the West side -- maybe we can squeeze in a yarn shop too :-)))! CiaoMeow ^;;^ .. PAX, Tia Mary ^;;^ Queen of Kitties Angels can't show their wings on earth but nothing was ever said about their WHISKERS!! Nothing is complete without a few cat hairs! I don't think they have a website but here're their phone numbers if you want to call them and see if they have it: 701-280-1478 218-342-2037 (fax) They have *many* different types of yarns! I had to put a bib on when I was in there. Um, if you need 100% Angora, I'd check with www.patternworks.com. But if
you're willing to settle for something that merely *looks* like angora, but is immune to moths, www.lionbrand.com has an acrylic called Fluffy or Kitten or something like that. -- Finished 7/18/04 -- 6 bear ornaments WIP: Fireman's Prayer (#2), Amid Amish Life, Angel of Autumn, Calif Sampler, Holiday Snowglobe Paralegal - Writer - Editor - Researcher http://hometown.aol.com/kmc528/KMC.html |

www.elann.com has Valeria di Roma Angora that comes in "misty blue" white,
and natural. It's 100% angora, looks like a light sport weight. Some of the fuzzy Lion Brands (www.lionbrand.com) yarns might work, too. Cheryl Absolutely - with a touch of metallic ;^) Tia-Mary - if you want to match the color to a floss - I bet you could get one of us to hit our LKS and get you something totally awesome. The shop I use is called Uniquities in Vienna, VA - and she has a goodly amount of angora, and angora blends, ...and some lovely chenille and eyelash yarns. You just know any of the knitters would just be kicking and screaming with an excuse to go shop for someone else bg LMK, ellice |

Problem is, it has been soooooo long since I knitted that I just couldn't manage to work with the eyelash yarns!!! I am not having much trouble crocheting with it but the mirror warmer has to be knitted cuz' I don't know how to *make* the durned thing any other way!!!!!! How the devil do you knit with this eyelash stuff? I tried with the smallest knitting needles and the biggest knitting needles and just couldn't manage to get anything accomplished :-(! I am going to check the awesome knitting & needlepoint shop in Lizard Land and see what they have there. I'll let you all know what I find :-)! CiaoMeow ^;;^ ..
