Block suggestions for large scale, spotty prints
OK, I confess! I have a penchant for prints that are spotty and tend to
be a little large in scale. When I get them home and face the reality of making something, I hit a brick wall! Today I drove myself nuts trying to deal with a very cute juvenile fabric with a white ground and lots of animal drawings in bright colors. I want to make a baby quilt for the little grandson of a high school best friend. I'm toying with the idea of doing a mosaic tile-type block with the focus fabric in the center. Or maybe a sawtooth star... or....I dunno! What do you like to do with your spotty conversational and juvenile fabrics? |

How about Snowball blocks with very bright corners, or Attic Windows,
or Friendship stars, use the big print in the middle. Or alternate plain blocks of the big print with scrappy 9 patches in colours from the print.... Helen Howes Our Lady Of The Biscuits... http://www.raindropkites.co.uk http://www.helenhowestextiles.co.uk |

Fussy cut and applique them in a design that appeals. Tell a story. -georg going to have to start thinking about quilts for the younger nephews. |

Stack and Whack. Kaleidoscope. Irregular log cabin with novelty fabric
in the center and coordinating colors as the logs. --Lia Adella wrote: OK, I confess! I have a penchant for prints that are spotty and tend to be a little large in scale. Thanks for all the suggestions! Now, if I could just make up my mind....
I was looking through my quilting books for ideas and saw another possibility. It was a 6-inch or so square of focus fabric surrounded by flying geese and set on point. It was busy, but had an overall unity that was nice. I have a daughter who is a lawyer and she taught me a term that I think applies to my chronic indecision: it's called "analysis paralysis!" |

I just did this with a pooh fabric for a baby quilt. It is on my grace frame
right now with about 1/3 of it quilted, but the finished top can be seen at: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/momiix...19.jpg&.view=t If that doesn't work, use my sig and go to WIP folder. I used this pattern before on my Two-step memories quilt. It's in the finished folder. Can't wait to see what you decide. Tricia http://photos.yahoo.com/momiixii "Adella" wrote in message ink.net... I guess you noticed I went with a thinner inner border, double it, and used
green and pink and took the blue completely out of it???? Thanks, Sandy. Tricia http://photos.yahoo.com/momiixii "Sandy Foster" wrote in message ...
