Substitute SM thread cutter needed
Hi All,
Question from an occasional lurker: The thread cutter on the side of my sewing machine is ruined. Bad me used metal objects to clean lint off of it as it was constantly clogging and not cleanly snipping threads. I hate using snippers or scissors. I Googled and couldn't find a solution. It'll be awhile before a new one arrives, so... Is there a jury rigged substitute SM thread cutter anyone's done that won't also slice my fingers? Flo |

Have you got a dental floss container ? Tape/Blutack it( sorry, don't know
the US name for this but its sort of dry putty that you can use to stick things together or paper to walls etc) to the side of your SM as a temporary substitute. I travel with one in my bag with 2 needles, buttons and thread in it -very useful for emergencies. Sue (Happy Easter all...) "Dot" wrote in message ... Clover makes a darling thread cutter pendant that can be worn around your
neck or inserted in the hole of a spool of thread, it has no sharp edges so you can cut yourself. Get it at Joann's with your 50% off and it will cost you close to nothing: Here is a link showing it as a pendant: http://www.cornerstitchandframe.com/...%20pendant.jpg and here it is on Joann's website, you can see in the picture how to insert it into your thread spool: http://joann.com/catalog.jhtml?CATID=24993&PRODID=11889 Good luck Teri -- Teri http://gallery.ppwp.com/gallery/Tquilts?&page=1 "Dot" wrote in message ... .... Is there a jury rigged substitute SM thread cutter anyone's done that won't also slice my fingers? Just FYI -- you can get an Easy Cut thread cutter(item #164771) from Clotilde ( http://www.clotilde.com ). It's got double stick tape, is very inexpensive ($3.38) and works great. I have on on my serger and it works like a charm for the 4 threads. Not sure if you would want to spend the $$ since you are getting a replacement for the one that doesn't wrok so well but wanted to share the info with you. CiaoMeow ^;;^ .. Have heard many good things about the Clover. Sue: My dental floss box cover gets in the way so that quick snips are awkward. However, I'll pass on the tip to a "flyer." The "sticky clay" adhesive for mounting things goes by many names. It's a rubber mastic adhesive according to one company. Now back to work on a Lone Star and try to get to the SM chair before the oldest cat messes it up with his hair. Thanks all, Flo (Dot) |

I know that 3M makes a product for temporary wall hangings. The kids used
it a college to hang posters when no nail holes are allowed. I is blue in color and looks like chicklets in the package. -- Sugar & Spice Quilts by Linda E http://community.webshots.com/user/frame242 |

I use the Easy Cut thread cutter on my longarm. (Do a google search for it.)
It's cheap, works great, and has adhesive on it so you can stick it right on your sewing machine. -- Kathy A.
