I am interested in doing an online course in smocking, if such a thing exists.
If you know of some courses, it would be good to hear from you.

One of the best sites for smocking is no longer available, I'm afraid.
But other decent ones have taken their place.
Start he
http://www.creativekeepsake.com/guide.html

And from there you can Google "smocking instructions" and find a number
of sites. One of them is bound to be just what you need.

You can also join Smocking Arts Guild of America
http://www.smocking.org/

There are two magazines available that focus on smocking as well as
other embroidery techniques: "Creative Needle"
http://www.creativeneedlemag.com/
and "Sew Beautiful"
http://www.sewbeautifulmag.com/
I've had two articles printed in "Sew Beautiful" and although it has
changed through the years, it hangs on to its roots.

Good luck in your adventures in smocking. A truly worthwhile needlework
endeavor.

Another excellent magazine is "Australian Smocking and Embroidery",
published by Country Bumpkin, the same people who publish Inspirations.
