My thoughts are with you. I will think of you every time I get into my car
and see my pink ribbon.

I am sure all you have heard Daniel Powder's song..."Bad Day" well this was
my bad day. I learned I have breast cancer. I had my lumpectomy this week
and it came back as malignant garde 3 tumor. I will have to get a
"masectomy" and have chemo. This has been a rough day for me but I don't
think I have the strength to cry anymore. I know I will lose my hair and
this really sucks but if I have to do this to keep alive then I will have
the surgery and do chemo. I will settle for chemo hats verus hair for
life. I'll be 51 in May and this seems not fair but I get my mammos yearly
and watched and it could of been worse. Last year I had a lumpectomy in
the other breast and that was benign this year my luck ran out. I see and
hear of so many survivors and I know this group has always been here for me
when ever I needed them.

Hey Pami,

I am going through this w/ my mother right now. She already had the
mastectomy, grade II poorly differentiated tumor. Will start chemo on 5/9.
_I_'m already tired and it's just getting started. Also very depressing.
They want her to go have the $3000 genetic testing to see if she has the
"gene" for breast cancer. Well, lemme see...her mother, her aunt, and she
have all had breast cancer, her uncle had two other kinds of cancer...I'm
thinking save the $3k! Also heard a rumor that if the insurance company
finds out you have the gene, they will deny all claims on the basis of
pre-existing condition!!! sigh

Good luck w/ yours. Mom just went and got a wig last week.

I have that EIC in my path report and it would always return so it's a must
to get the breast off. I will have them do the nodes, chemo port and the
breast all in one shot....no need to knock me out again. I've also heard
that about that genetic testing....so maybe the less the insurance company
knows the better. will be zonked before all this starts but I have 2 weeks
of healing before chemo after my mastectomy. I just might buy myself an
ipod and have my son download the songs on it and take that to chemo with
me.
I don't think I'll go for a wig...I'll wear some chemo caps.

I am off to bed but wanted to "thank you" for all your support...I know I
will sleep better....zzzzzz... A friend came by and had coffee with me
tonight and it means so much. My husband is supportive but 10 times more
frightened than I am .....so I will stop in and have some coffee breaks with
my pals here.

FYI: there is prolly no way you can have genetic testing without your
insurance company finding out. There is this entity called the Medical
Information Bureau, to which all the insurance companies subscribe. Any
time you sign permission slips for information to be released, they can get
your information, and I don't know of any way that WE could see what they
have on us.... Anyway, I'm sure the testing center would send info to them
if you had it done, and who can afford $3k for a test? (not me)

Glad you are doing all you can and undergoing all tests possible. Keep a
positive outlook and ignore the negative. The cost of tests is minimal when
it comes to living a full life. I KNOW you will join many of us in wearing
the Relay for Life "Survivor" shirt.
